From Library Journal
Menopause is often associated with some level of physical and emotional discomfort. Fortunately, diet can play an important role in relieving some of these negative side effects. After a brief review of menopause, Moquette-Magee, a dietitian and author of Fight Fat and Win Cookbook (Chronimed, 1994), outlines "ten diet commandments" aimed at preventing discomfort and disease. Although some of the jargon may be technical, it is always followed by a simple review and practical guidelines. Moquette-Magee's philosophy is one of moderation, not abstinence, and the goals she sets are attainable. This is not a recipe book (the few recipes included are insignificant) but an important precursor?a nutritional sourcebook that may help ease the transitional phase of menopause. As one of the few books devoted to this topic, it is highly recommended for general collections.?Lisa A. Errico-Cox, Nassau Community Coll., Garden City, N.Y.
