Product Description

Review

""I am very excited about this book and believe it is very needed...for clients to have substantive things to read and do between sessions or on their own to help them understand and work through the underlying reasons for their eating disorder and accompanying destructive thoughts and behaviors."-Julie Campbell Ruggaard, PhD, LPCC."

Product Description

Two seasoned clinicians with years of experience in the treatment of eating disorders offer this practical tool and adjunct to one-on-one and group therapy. In a readable style, the authors take the reader on a journey toward better mental and physical health, as well as provide an important understanding of eating disorders.

This Workbook encourages self-paced learning and practice. The authors guide the reader through a greater consideration of body image, compulsive exercising, and personal and societal relationships. The Workbook also explores complicated issues having a direct effect on the eating disorder, including trauma, depression, abuse, and the media.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book was so helpful, Dec 7 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Eating Disorders: The Journey to Recovery Workbook (Paperback)
This book was so helpful in helping me better understand eating disorders and how they act as coping mechanisms. I used to think it was just about the wish to look better and lose weight. I now really understand how psychological it is, and this book was so insightful in helping me put together the skills and tools I need to recover from my eating disorder. I would, without hesitation, recommend this book to anyone struggling with an eating disorder.

5.0 out of 5 stars It helped me so much, Sep 16 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Eating Disorders: The Journey to Recovery Workbook (Paperback)
I have anorexia for a year and it is so hard. I feel like nobody understands and my friends think I am weird and don't want to be friends anymore but when I read this book I felt like finally someone understands and I don't have to live like this anymore. I am not all better yet but I am working hard and this book helps a lot. I wish my friends would read it and that teachers could understand that I don't do this on purpose. The chapter for parents helped my mom alot. I hope anybody that has an eating disorder can read ths book and get help. And I hope that someone writes a book for friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Disagree with the others, Sep 26 2002
This review is from: Eating Disorders: The Journey to Recovery Workbook (Paperback)
This book is a much needed book. It has a unique flair and is incredibly invaluable for anyone in recovery. I have been using it with my therapist and have found it to be helping my recovery above and beyond what I would be doing in just my sessions alone. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a task oriented approach to therapy.
