As an internist, I am a little closer to the obesity side of things but I found the entire book informative and very easy to comprehend. The chapters are purposefully short to facilitate the episodic reading that is often the only reading possible in a busy practice. I particularly like Dr. Brownell's public health and environmental approach to the problem of obesity. This textbook is a great way for the uninitiated to "catch up" on the current concepts of obesity and eating disorders.

What a waste. Aug. 10 2013
By C. Giovannone - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This book is repetitive, uninspired and in parts completely worthless. If you are using this as a patient research reference then God help your patients. The reference index is atrocious with little mind or care for the professional trying to use this book effectively. Definitely use a different reference!!!

Quality of the book was more than my expectation. However, it took little longer to get in the mail. Overall, I was very satisfied with renting this book from amazon.
Not Recommended Jan. 20 2014
By M. Levine - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I'm surprised. The research of Drs. Robert Lustig, David Perlmutter, John Yudkin and many other notables are not mentioned.
This book is not meant for serious researchers or clinicians. Based on its price, it seems its purpose is to make money mostly from rehashing many old paradigms.
