3.0 out of 5 stars ALL IS NOT WELL THAT ENDS WELL, Mar 8 2009

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Eating Out (DVD)
At the instigation of scheming gay young man No. 1, his straight male roommate pretends to be gay to facilitate sex with the straight female roommate of gay young man No. 2, the ulterior motive being to give No. 1 access to No. 2. The characters are all young and confused, with constant appetites for sex but not without redeeming qualities, such as consideration for each other.

And so this delightful gay comedy of errors, takes off at a speed which rarely lags and comes to a happy ending, where No. 1 and No. 2 find love together. But all is not well that ends well. On reflection, one cannot but notice how the male characters are developed as individuals with different personalities whereas the female characters are basically all bimbos. The cascades of vulgarity in which the characters drench themselves detracts from their more refined sentiments and prevents "Eating Out" from rising above mere slapstick to the higher flights of comedy.

And so I have rated "Eating Out" at 3 stars, with regrets that the loftier possibilities of their delightful story escaped its writers. With a little more care, it could have escaped the confines of the gay genre and vied with "The Bird Cage" as a major studio production.

4.0 out of 5 stars funny and sexy, Aug 22 2008

I absolutely love this film. Production values are better than most LGBT films. Very funny premise - a straight guy willing to play gay in order to get closer to his "date's" best girl friend. The movie is sexy, with lots of eye-candy. It has a real heart to it, with a sentimental ending that is sure to tear you up.

5.0 out of 5 stars All in good fun., Jun 30 2006
This review is from: Eating Out (DVD)
i thought this a great movie, OK it's bit cheesy and not what you would call Oscar material but it's so funny and quirky and alot of hot guys in it lol. i have seen it over and over and will continue to do so lol.

I thought this was very funny, allot of pop culture references some I am not sure is accurate lol. if you take the film for what is A gay comedy and watch it for that you will find it a good watch.
