Product Description

"The text is also well supported with a variety of student and academic resources, which can be accessed through the publisher's website. Thus a particular strength of the book is that it can be used as the core component of a wide ranging and interactive learning experience. I consider this text valuable learning material for all nurses who work with older adults and I would particularly recommend it for undergraduate nursing students and postgraduate students specialising in the field." very helpful book Sept. 19 2009

I work on a team that develops special geriatric healthcare programs and I bought this book to help me with my new job. This book has already been extremely helpful in my work. It's easy to read and understand. My only criticism is that sometimes I wish it was a little more in depth or detailed, but that might just be me and my thirst for knowledge. All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase and recommend this book to anyone working with older adults.
Clear, Concise, Useful Textbook Sept. 7 2011

Here's a short and sweet review:

This textbook is both clear and concise. The subject matter is well-organized and easy to navigate. I find it one of my more "readable" nursing texts, with good information that's not dry or too dense. The side bars are helpful and provide useful insights. The authors include both "Implications" and "Interventions" in each section, giving practical, real-world, evidence-based care solutions for various challenges, taking this text from merely rote academics to applicable tools. I have applied a few of the solutions (i.e.: establishing therapeutic connections with elders by encouraging open reminiscing) and found them to be very affective and helpful.

With a population whose average age is rapidly increasing, you may find this textbook to be very helpful as I have. I would highly recommend it for nurses, nursing students, and moreover their professors to use as a textbook for gerontological nursing instruction.

I am so glad I found and bought this book online through Amazon(used). It was basically in perfect shape and I saved half the amount of money than I would have spent if I bought this book through my school's suggested book selling website( which I did last semester). Smart choice and I will be buying my next books here too.
Inadequate and Inaccurate Oct. 1 2012

It contained multiple mistakes when comparing one student's book to another student's book. Multiple points of information were incorrect or inadequate in accordance with NCLEX questions. I would not recommend that Schools of Nursing using this publication on gerontological nursing.

After half the class purchased their books, the instructor changed his mind and wants to go with the newest edition. I was told that I can't use this book. I hope that the new edition is very similar to the one I purchased.
