When Jack meets Edward at a traffic stop, his world is rocked -- and not for the better. Edward is the gayest man he's ever seen, and Spring Lake is a small town just getting comfortable with its own new gay couple, Brian Russell and Rush Weston. Unlike Edward, Rush and Brian are big, strapping, manly men. But manly isn't what turns Jack on. It's Edward -- everything about the younger man drives Jack wild with desire and the need to control Edward's wild, impetuous spirit.
For Edward, his attraction to "bad boys" has been his romantic downfall. His heart's been broken so many times he's lost count. When he meets Jack, Edward falls for the all-American by-the-book lawman, but finds his attempts rebuffed and his pride severely wounded. Jack's straight, or at least says he is, but Edward knows that look in Jack's eyes, he's seen it before from other men. How can a man so right be so wrong?
Edward tempts Jack beyond anyone he's ever met and his desire for Edward builds each time he encounters the younger man, until he can no longer deny it or himself. But Edward doesn't want sex on the side, he wants forever. He wants the fairy tale.
Can Jack give Edward what he wants or will Jack's fear of being ridiculed for his choice of a partner keep them from their Happily Ever After?

A Captivating Love Story,
By

This review is from: Edward Unconditionally: Common Powers 3 (Paperback)
Edward Unconditionally is the third book in the Common Powers series and it's excellent. The characters are sensitively described so that the reader feels as if he knows them before too long. Each additional bit of detail is added almost as it would be if we were to meet in person and over time discover more things about each other. A bonus is that we get to meet some of the friends from the previous books so that their stories continue even as this new story of Edward and Jack unfolds from their first meeting under somewhat unromantic circumstances. Although I've always liked dogs I never thought I'd like a bulldog but after reading about Winston, Edward's dog, I think I may be converted. The 'powers' spoken of in the series title do play an important part in this story but somehow even they are believable, perhaps because we want it to be true since we like the characters so much. Unlike so many erotic romances, this one does not have endless detailed sexual escapades as its central theme. Instead there is good character development and an actual plot that carries the reader on. Sure, we do get some pretty hot sex but we have to wait quite a while for it, just like the characters do and that simply serves to heighten the expectation. It was one of those books that I started and finished in one day simply because I didn't want to put it down. I felt my eyes prickling near the end of the story and I'll bet there will be many readers who will be unable to hold back a tear or two at that point. I thoroughly enjoyed Edward Unconditionally and immediately ordered all the other Amazon titles by Lynn Lorenz that I didn't already own. And if the author decided to add two or three new titles to her Common Powers series, I'd be delighted and would be at the front of the line to add them to my library.

Book 3 is the best. What a lovely story!,
By R.Parklane - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Edward Unconditionally: Common Powers 3 (Paperback)
Common Powers is a series about men endowed with special gifts. Books 1 & 2 were enjoyable but consumed with too much sex, which I skipped a fair bit. However in Book 3, Lynn Lorenz has really penned a beautiful gay romance. Plot, emotional content and characters take precedence which I appreciate. I love the flamboyant Edward who is such a sweet character. With a penchant for falling in love with the wrong man, Edward's heart has been broken many times. His true companion is Winston, his little bulldog for 6 years. The beginning of the story is very well done as Edward and Winston from the metropolitan city of Atlanta meets Jack the chief of police of Spring Lake, a small town in Texas. Their first encounter is hilarious. Jack introduced in Book 2 is the alpha guy and very much in contol of his life. His initial reation to the flamboyant, queeny and obviously rich Edward is one of disbelief which quickly turns to attraction as his long buried desires betrayed him. But Jack is deeply in the closet and he is not about to give up all his achievements in life for Edward even if the younger man is irresistible and keeps getting under his skin. Their developing romance is really sweet, as they are aided by the guys from Book 1 and 2 which add fun to the story. Then there is the touching relationship between Edward and his grandmother which simply tugs at my heart strings as Edward's gift of healing is called into question here. As I love dogs I also appreciate how the writer fits Winston into the couple's light hearted scenes. This is one quality gay romance which holds me captive from page 1. My only regret is that it ends too soon as both Edward and Jack easily got under my skin. No qualm about purchasing this one in print as it is a keeper. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful

Not such unconditional love in this corner...,
By amf0001 - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Edward Unconditionally: Common Powers 3 (Paperback)
Other's have summarized the plot, so I don't go into it again. This is the second book I've read in this series, and again, the paranormal aspect is the one which sits uneasily with me. Though Edward's healing ability is more part of the plot than in the previous book, I still don't know why all these men have these freakish talents, and what it means that they are all finding each other...Edward is a very out there gay man, whose dog Winston bites the Sheriff when Edward is pulled over for speeding. Jack is deeply in the closet, very invested in being Sheriff, and playing it safe, but he is dazzled by Edward. He has seen a new gay couple be generally accepted by the town, but they are both very manly men. Edward is different kind of gay, and Jack feels that he will be rejected if he brings this gay man into his home. Though they do eventually fall for each other, there are contrived misunderstandings, and Jack's vulnerability to Edward's mother's machinations surprise me. If Jack has outed himself for Edward, I'm surprised he would be fooled so easily. Also, big plot holes with the mother, whose relationship with her mother, the grandmother, is never clarified. I didn't mind Edward Unconditionally, but it's far from unconditional love! I've read much better books. I was surprised actually at all the rave reviews. This is by no means a bad book, but it's not exceptionally well written and the erotic tension doesn't sing.. so I would rate is a fair 3.5 stars - happy to be reading it when I've got it in my hands, but it doesn't linger, like Harper Fox's books do, and wasn't as hot as Jez Morrow's books are, nor is it as well written as Josh Lanyon's books. So it's perfectly acceptable, but there is better stuff out there. I rate it a firm B, but not 5 stars, not at all! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful

This review is from: Edward Unconditionally: Common Powers 3 (Paperback)
I liked the writing-the plot-the continuity from scene to scene.Everything made sense and was explained.I say this 1st because some writers think it's ok to leave gaps in the plot as long as the sex scenes are steamy.I don't agree with that and it spoils a book for me.So yes,I enjoyed the book.It was funny, sexy, and included a lovable doggy. The dialect of the southern character was great. The other characters were written nicely. It all fell together into a great read. It will be read again! I recommend it highly.
