Review

"This book provides valuable information for all those involved in higher education." (Teachers College Record, January 26, 2004)

Product Description

Effective Teaching with Technology in Higher Education draws on current research and best practice to show how to integrate technology into teaching in higher education. This book provides a comprehensive theoretical and pedagogical foundation for helping instructors make critical decisions about the use of technology within the college curriculum. This practical and much needed resource discusses the relationship between knowledge, learning, teaching, and the nature of media, and shows how this information should inform the use of technology in a teaching environment. The authors introduce a decision model that is based on key criteria for selecting appropriate technologies for teaching in higher education. They also provide guidance for developing and delivering a course using electronic technology and discuss the organizational and technical support structures that are needed to back up instructors using technology.

3.0 out of 5 stars To begginer, Nov 3 2006
By Maritza Gudiño "Maritza Gudiño" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Effective Teaching with Technology in Higher Education: Foundations for Success (Hardcover)
This book is very appropriate for those new or experienced teachers begginers in the use of the technology in higher education. The authors of a very didactic way focus in the importance of understanding the nature of the learning that is wanted to obtain before deciding the technology that will be used

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Edu Tech book around, April 15 2009
By John Peter Thoma - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Effective Teaching with Technology in Higher Education: Foundations for Success (Hardcover)
This was one of the first books I read when I started my PhD in educational technology. I found it an excellent introduction to the issues surrounding education and the use of technologies. It is well written and an easy read. As a student teacher, I also found it useful when considering my options for my own teaching practice. I recommend it to anyone with any level of interest in the topic.
