Book Description

This is the fourth edition of the Electronics Engineers' Handbook, probably the most widely used reference book in the fields of electronics engineering and related disciplines. It is translated into languages other than English at least three times. Four major sections of the handbook cover (1) Principles and Techniques, (2) Materials and Hardware, (3) Circuits and Functions, and (4) Systems and Applications.

From the Back Cover

The most widely used and highly respected reference of its kind, the Electronics Engineers' Handbook is fully revised to reflect major advances in cutting-edge electronic technologies. The edition covers not only fundamental principles and technologies, but also the latest in hardware, circuits and functions, and applications. It is packed with new data and information on subjects ranging from systems engineering and semiconductor reliability to audio, video, facsimile, and telecommunications systems. This vital resource features: all-new chapters on microsensors and actuators, computer-assisted digital design, and integrated circuits and microprocessors; a revised chapter on digital computing; new sections on light-emitting diodes (LEDs), semiconductor lasers, and digital filters; expanded coverage of medical electronics systems and techniques; a new chapter on useful resources for electronics engineers, including professional societies and associations, engineering schools, publishers, and Web sites.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a crew to sail with!, May 17 2000
By
Armando E. Pattroni (Lima, Peru) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Electronics Engineers' Handbook (Hardcover)
Mr. Christiansen gathered a group of fine authors for this title. This book covers almost every topic you want to know about electronics. The level is, of course, advanced. It works for graduate students, or for college teachers, like myself, who want to have a sort of vade mecum that can not be carried in one's pocket. I will call this book, a bible. This means, a collection of books, with different specializations by different specialists. Mr Christiansen wrote some chapters himself. But as a final comment, an Electronics Engineer who does not know what his/her intended major will be, should buy this book to clearly study every branch of our beloved career.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Vital Resource with all the Information on the Field of Electronics, July 18 2006
By David De Sousa "The Automation and Control Guy" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Electronics Engineers' Handbook (Hardcover)
This edition of the "Electronics Engineers' Handbook" is the most comprehensive, authoritative reference you will find in the shelves.

This book has all the information you will ever need on Electronic Engineering and related fields. Each topics was written by foremost authorities in their respective fields, limiting mathematical derivation in favor of useful bottom line expressions, stressing references hat are broadly informative rather than those that may be to arcane. The resulting work is intended to be practical rather than tutorial. Nevertheless, while applications and cost considerations are emphasized throughout, theory is included when is deemed to be helpful to comprehension.

This handbook will be useful to a wide range of readers, from undergraduate electrical and computer engineering students, to new graduates and experienced practitioners. Anyone who need quick access to a definition, mathematical expression, or like in my case, any working engineer who may need access to application information related to problems you may be experiencing, or to a new project you think you may be assigned to.

Definitively a must have for anyone related to the field of electronic, electrical or computer engineering. I am an Electronics Engineer, and I has been an industrial practitioner working for the last 16 years in the process industries. I have found this handbook to be really useful many times.

Be aware that this handbook has been updated and renamed in its fifth edition, and is now the "Standard Handbook of Electronic Engineering", which now includes a CD-ROM.

2.0 out of 5 stars A lot about very little, Nov 29 2006

I regret buying this book. It covers a lot of material but has very little about each item. If you really need the detail look elsewhere
