5.0 out of 5 stars useful and practical guide book for curriculum evaluation, May 17 2000

This review is from: Elements of Language Curriculum: A Systematic Approach to Program Development (Paperback)
This book is quite useful for writing researcher paper on language curriculum or program evaluation. It is academically valuable, but it is also easily understandable for everyone because the language is not diffcult at all. It has good literature review of related topics. It also includes real examples of some ESL programs in the US. This books helped me a lot to write a research paper on a langauge course evaluation. It is good for individual use as well as a textbook for any graduate courese of curriculum development or evaluation. Plus, the layout of this book is pretty pleasant.

I am taking a Language Curriculum course with Professor J.D. Brown right now, and we are using his textbook here. I have to say, this is probably my favorite textbook since I started graduate school in second language studies. The textbook is comprehensive and is very ready friendly. Often times, the questions my peers and I ask Dr. Brown in class are not clarifications from confusion in the information from the book, but more additional information, and extended ideas. If you are a teacher/program administrator who has some responsibility in developing language curriculum, I would definitely recommend this text.

If you are interested in making your own course, this book will help you a lot with a variety of categories in which
you can find many more sub-elements to be taken into account.
This is great for you to have a whole view of the program with diverse aspects to it.(closer to theoritical base)
