Product Description

From Amazon.com

Tiësto sticks to his guns on a new album of original compositions that follows 2004's Just Be. Elements of Life strikes a satisfying balance between inventive vocal tracks and signature trance stormers: "Ten Seconds Before Sunrise," "Driving to Heaven," and "Bright Morning Star" all glow with the Dutchman's epic sound, one that is simultaneously haunting and uplifting. On the vocal side, the soaring energy of "Break My Fall," which features BT on vocals, will not disappoint fans of the duo's prior work on "Just Be" and other collaborations. To be sure, there are a number of less convincing pieces as well: "Dance4Life" with Faithless's Maxi Jazz falls flat, and the lyrics of "Can You Feel Me" prove that the genre's reputation for banal wordsmithing is not entirely undeserved. For the most part, however, these weaker moments are outweighed by the stronger tracks. Principal among these is undoubtedly "Sweet Things"--in which Charlotte Martin's vocal high-wire act is complemented by some exceptional programming--a track that is sure to receive a great many spins by DJs around the globe and yet further proof that when it comes to bringing alive the female voice for the dancefloor, Tiësto remains without equal. All in all, it's a safe bet that many of Tiësto's Elements will be making their way into DJ crates and MP3 players alike. --Brent Kallmer

Album Description

Limited edition Asian pressing features a bonus DVD (NTSC/Region 0) that includes three music videos, Dance4Life, In the Dark and Break My Fall. 12 tracks are featured on the audio disc. 2007 release from the producer, DJ and artist. Elements Of Life is his third release as an artist and holds some already familiar tunes, such as 'Dance4life', his co-write with Maxi Jazz, the renowned faithless vocalist. Also featured is the Tiësto remix of 'He's A Pirate' from Walt Disney's blockbuster Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest as a special bonus track. This album features a lot of guest vocalists, with BT delivering his trademark vocals on a brand new love song, 'Break My Fall'. 'Can You Feel Me' is a deep and hypnotizing track where Julie Thompson adds the flavor. Julie is best known from the dancefloor smash 'Nothing' by Holden & Thompson. Avex. 2007.

4.0 out of 5 stars Elements of Life - Tiesto, Jan 3 2008

Unlike Tiesto's 'In Search Of Sunrise' compilations, 'Elements of Life' contains all Tiesto originals. The CD starts strongly with some tracks of note: the opening track 'Ten Seconds Before Sunrise' does seem to evoke the sun about to come up, with its sunny treble, chords and choir sounds. The standout track is definitely the one which follows, 'Everything': with its amazingly crafted beat, catchy melody and sensual female vocals, it is 7 minutes of pure listening pleasure. With a full set of lyrics, this could be a chart riser if released as a single.

I found the next four tracks became gradually weaker at this point, which was disappointing. The CD's momentum returns with the uplifting 'Bright Morningstar', which, again is ethereal in its sound. This is followed with another good track: 'Break My Fall' with its strong beat and male vocals. 'In The Dark' is more of a Euro-pop song than a dance track, but I like it just the same.

'Dance4Life' sounds very Faithless-esque and has an awesome beat but the lyrics are a bit annoying. The title track is actually very good which leads me to wonder why it appears second last on the track listing. With its arpeggiated bass and driving beat it attempts to revive the ambience of the CD's opening tracks. Fortunately the CD ends strongly with the weirdly titled but uplifting 'He's a Pirate', complete with an impressive string arrangement interlude.

I'd say it's worth buying, even if it's a break from his 'Sunrise' compilations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tiesto - Elements of life, April 27 2007
This review is from: Elements Of Life (Audio CD)
I was totally looking forward to this CD when I heard a new one was coming out. I was blown away, and therefore, it was a good wait...Its not like the other Search for sunrise series, all the tracks are original tiesto. Treat yourself, or buy it as a gift, this is a must have for tiesto fans hands down
