5.0 out of 5 stars the most organic music i have ever heard, Nov 9 2005
By Strobe Lights And Blown Speakers - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Elements Of Structure/Permanen (Audio CD)
2 extended pieces (22- and 32-minutes each) that flow like the valleys and hills of vermont. and it sounds just as organic as those maple-lined knobs look. steady, groovy basslines (not unlike something you would find in a Can or German Oak track) and propulsive, jazz drums provide the backbone for guitar, piano, saxophone, woodwinds, accordian (!--used so well, too), organ, and who knows what else to interact, all slowly tumbling down and striding up the aforementioned hills, fading in and out, playing glorious darkened melodies, completely austere and nocturnal, slightly lugubrious, and totally and entirely original and natural.

all of these elements combine to create a lucid whole with shifting shapes and textures with excellent use of different timbres and tones to create amazing atmoshper, imagery, and tonal color. it is all very powerful to hear, and i rank it on par with the works of talk talk, eyvind kang, and parson sound in terms of quality, depth, and power. as one of my all-time favorites and a "desert island disc" it is so, so highly recommended.
