Elfwood is the first book I can remember reading as a child. I read it in one day, because I simply couldn't put it down. It started my love of reading. Its a wonderful tale of fantasy with colorful characters, slight humor, and an easy to follow plot. A+

5.0 out of 5 stars 1 of the best books ive ever read!, Sep 28 2004

i love this book! if you love medieval books, and youve read Eragon, you will love this book. worth reading many many times. estes is a masterful writer. it took almost no time at all for her characters to capture me. i think characters are the most importent part of any book and they should be enchanting, funny, and likable. these are great!!!!! This is a really hilarious book but its serious to. has a good climax, lots of funny parts and amazing characters. you may think i must not read much or something, but i read tons and am really picky about books. this one had it all! just hope i can find the rest of the series! i way recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Light, fun fantasy, Jun 20 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Elfwood (Paperback)
While Elfwood is not particularly inspired or profound, it IS a lot of fun. The characters are splendid, lightly mocking those of traditional fantasy. At the same time, they do undergo realistic development. The plot moves along at a good pace with well-placed humor and there's never a dull moment. Perfect for summer reading! Unfortunately, the sequel by Kevin Stein fails to live up to Elfwood's standards.

I really liked this book. It leaves you wanting to read more about Castle Elfwood, but unfortunately I haven't found any other books in this series.
