Those two movies are amongs the best of Gwyneth Paltrow's movies I think. Emma from Jane Austen is really well played and the story funny and sad, so a perfect mixt. Shakespere in love his totally breath taking and even more intense, with co star Joseph Fiennes, its a passionate tale, a must!

Two of Gwyneth Paltrow's most delightful films in one well-priced package. What's not to like?"Emma" (1996) is screenwriter/director Douglas ("Bullets Over Broadway," "Infamous") McGrath's take on Jane Austen's 1815 novel, the last to appear before her death. Lovely but lonely Emma Woodhouse's misguided attempts at match-making complicate her life and everyone else's in this gentle, poignant satire of the English gentry's prejudices and preoccupations. "Shakepeare in Love" won seven Oscars in the 1999 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Writing (directly for the screen), Best Actress (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Best Supporting Actress (Judi Dench as the formidable Queen Elizabeth I). "Shakespeare in Love" is a unique romantic comedy that is as intelligent as it is enjoyable. If all films were this good I'd spend all day watching movies.

Shakespeare in Love won a number of academy awards including Best Picture and I was really looking forward to viewing this DVD since I didn't see it when it played the movie theaters. I expected much more than the film delivered. I do not believe this movie reflects the talent and abilities of the actors cast to play in it. My biggest problem was in the literary license of the screenwriter in his fabrication of the inspiration for Romeo and Juliet and Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare.I bought the two movie DVD since I enjoy Gwyneth Paltrow and have seen her in some excellent films. This version is not one of her best and my BBC versions of Emma are much better. If I had it to do over, I would not have bought this double feature DVD. |
