Product Description

A RUMOR OF RICHES. A MAZE OF MURDER. AND THE WORLD’S MOST DANGEROUS, SOUGHT-AFTER PRIZE.

Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase possess extraordinary pieces of an ancient puzzle that leads them from Singapore to the jungles of South America. Inside a storm of political and drug warfare, Nina is getting close to one of history’s greatest secrets: the mythical golden city of El Dorado. As one discovery unveils another, Nina realizes that a legendary Incan leader made a deal with his Spanish captors—and hid forever the real El Dorado. Now, Nina and Eddie face a maze of death traps and betrayals, including one that reaches into Eddie’s past in Afghanistan, even into his own family in England. Behind a waterfall in Peru is an unfound wonder of the world. And to get there, Nina and Eddie may have to sacrifice everything: their friends, their love for one another, even their lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read!, Oct 7 2011

I really love Andy McDermott as an author. This book follows on from his other Nina Wilde stories, pretty much seems to be the female version of Clive Cusslers Dirk Pitt. The story can come across as being rather predictable, but I didn't care, enjoyed every minute of it and can't wait for the next book to arrive!

4.0 out of 5 stars Empire of Gold, Nov 14 2011

This review is from: Empire of Gold: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
I read mostly for entertainment, and this series has always been entertaining. With a women as main protagonist, and her male foil not some James Bond good looking guy, I like the way his books come across. Sure, it's a little implausible, but it's entertainment. What bugs the living daylights out of me is inaccuracies. The Cessna Carravan is a turbo prop, not a piston engine aircraft. It's not that much harder to get the facts right. But I'm looking forward to the next book. Keep up the good work, Andy.
