Product Description

From Amazon.com

Originating in the British rave scene, the vocal-dance sensationalism of The Shamen was evident while being feverishly pumped from the DJ booths of early techno pioneers. Finding critical acclaim among the substantive corps of dance culture, they released En-Tact, their first major-label offering. Crossing electronic currents, the tracks come off hard with trance beats, soul stylings, rap-attack incantations, vocal duels, and snarling tones. Relying on the wired sounds of drum machines and sequencers, the rhythmic pulses push sound systems to their limit. Even though there's plenty of material to keep your body moving, traces of ethereal-ambient influence keep things heady enough for the chill-out room as well. For whichever space or state you may find, expect lucid bases to be covered. --Lucas Hilbert

En-Tact~ The Shamen is an amazing album with cool dance tracks and sounds. They were way ahead of their time and to compare them with their contemporaries a bit unfair. This is a must own cd.

A truly exceptional album light that was pushing the limits of contempory music at the time. Some beautiful tracks with excellent quality vocals that still sound fresh today.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Soundtrack of the Nineties, April 13 1999

This was the disc that changed the way I look at music forever. Everyone should listen at least once - I cannot imagine what life would have been like without it. You may not believe in their message, but the message is simply this: nature and technology have become intertwined. In order to survive into the next millenia, we must transform our culture into a fusion of high technology and Gaian ideals. The music is many things - tribal, electronic, harsh, soft, beautiful and frightening all at the same time. Look beyond any pop-pretenses for a transcendental journey into yourself...

5.0 out of 5 stars Right In My Groove, Jun 6 2000
By David R. Miller - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: En Tact (Audio CD)
The Shamen's "Move Any Mountain" is one of my favorite songs and opens this album. It has a feel good quality about it that I think is unique. It's one of those songs I play over and over and never get tired of hearing. This album is full of other great tracks like "Human Energy", "Make It Mine", "Hear Me", and "666 Edit". I really like "Lightspan"; it's a funky, futuristic, space-travel kind of thing. It would have sure livened up some of the Star Trek movies.

I like dance music with a hard edge and that's what all of these tracks deliver. This album is right in my groove.
