Product Description

SHE WAS A MOST UNUSUAL MISS, TO BE SURE!
Lovely Lisanne Neville had always found solace in the verdant beauty of Sevrin Woods. But now the woods were about to be destroyed in order to pay off the gambling debts of the Duke of St. Sevrin. Clearly, drastic measures were called for. So Lisanne proposed marriage to the duke. The deal: her fortune for his woods.
The Duke of St. Sevrin put aside his bottle long enough to consider this mad bargain, recognizing he had nothing to offer this sprite of a girl save his crumbling home, hellish reputation, and mountain of bills. He accepted. It was not the beginning of a fairy-tale marriage--but never underestimate the power of love . . . and a little bit of magic!

Ingram

In order to preserve the beauty of Sevrin Woods, about to be destroyed to pay off the gambling debts of the Duke of St. Sevrin, beautiful and wealthy Lisanne proposes marriage to the duke and finds unexpected happiness.

4.0 out of 5 stars Regency romance with a tinge of fantasy, Aug 1 1996
By A Customer
This review is from: Enchanted Affair (Mass Market Paperback)
Lisanne Neville, the wealthy and orphaned daugher of a baron, becomes the ward of her uncle. She has a miserable existence except for the time she spends in the woods. Then she learns that her beloved woods are to be sold for timber. She takes action by proposing to the almost-destitute Duke of St. Sevrin. If he marries her, she will help his finances and he will protect her woods. The first half of the book is wonderful and the second half is disappointing. Still, this book is better than most Regency romancies.
