5.0 out of 5 stars Good for Christians, Great for all others!!, Jun 23 2007
By R. Beck - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have read the shortened (limited availability) version of this book, but enjoyed it so much that I've shared it with others and ordered the full length copy already.
If you're seeking, curious, or more importantly skeptical of Christianity, you're promised one thing: this man does not approach things from a direction you may be expecting.

I've had all the same hang-ups to religion that most people have, until I discovered that religion was the problem altogether. For too long religion has gotten in the way of faith...in fact, the one thing this book points out is that religion and Jesus shouldn't be used together in the same sentence. If there's any group of individuals that Christ was angry at and fought with, it was the religious rule makers, yet today he's too often treated as one of them.
Bruxy Cavey no doubt loves the Lord passionately, but throws the doors open for discussion rather than debate, a mistake made by far too many these days.
He is one of the greatest communicators I've ever read or heard. You can Download most of his talks at www.themeetinghouse.ca to get an idea of what I mean.

He has changed the way I think, the way I read my bible, and the way I live my life. If you've ever questioned Christianity (true Christianity, not "touch the screen", smoke machine Christianity), I can't say it any clearer:

THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for thinkers and seekers!, Jul 2 2007
By Lawrence G. Daniels - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
My daughter, who this year graduated last spring from Huntington University as a family and youth ministry major, highly recommended the original edition of "The End of Religion" after hearing Bruxy Cavey speak on campus and reading the book herself. My wife and I read her copy when she was home for a weekend (it is a quick read) and ordered ten copies of the book for ourselves to share with family and friends. And recently reordered five more to do the same. Over the last year, those copies of "The End of Religion" have been passed along (and between) dozens of people and touched each one in their own way.

For believers it has sparked a thought process of why in the "Americanized" church do we do things the way that we do? Or why do we do some of them at all? Are doing these religious things what Jesus wants for His church to be doing? For seekers it has opened-up Christianity to them in a way some have never seen or heard about it before. And for those of us that have struggled with religiosity and legalism in the church it provides a completely new view of our church family.

The new, expanded version of "The End of Religion" promises to be as good as the original. And I doubt you will be dissapointed that you took the time to read it. You may not agree with everything in the book. But read it with an open mind, question what Bruxy Cavey says, and seek truth for yourself. I look forward to getting my copy of the new edition when it is available.

5.0 out of 5 stars GET THIS BOOK!, Jul 12 2007
By S. Wiseman (Calgary, AB) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Bruxy is an amazing Spirit enlightened thinker who has expanded my thinking about Jesus & His Kingdom. His thoughts unravel in this book to both challenge & encourage the reader. Followers of Jesus would do well to take these words and allow them to strip off the veneer to once again see us living out a "non-institutional, deeply relational approach to spirituality".
