Great Movie with a Powerful Message,
This review is from: End of the Spear (DVD)
I enjoyed this movie so much that I ended up buying it. It is a heartfelt movie that tells the story of Nate Saint and his family who were missionaries in Ecuador in the 50's. The story is well told and has more "action" than what I had expected. Enjoyable for the whole family although the "action" is too violent for young children.

This review is from: End of the Spear (DVD)
The End of the Spear DVD is exceptionally good film based around the true story of missionaries making contact with an unreached people group in the Amazon basin, in Ecuador. The high quality, big budget movie begins in the early 1940s where the main characters (Accus Indian 0 living in the Stone Age) are just children. How two warring tribes are killing one another and avenging each other deaths and thus the cycle continues. In 1956, a group of young American missionaries are looking for this unreached group and eventually spot them from the air. The drop present and then decide to fly onto a sandbank and make real contact. All goes well until they are speared to death. But the story does not end there and the widows go and live with this tribe for a time, and more than 30 years later, the son of the dead pilot goes and lives with the tribe and becomes great friends with the tribal leaders who killed his dad in 56. A great confession ensues, truths unfolds and issues can finally be buried. This is a great story of redemption, missions and forgiveness with excellent cinematography, a wonderful true storyline, exceptional plot (all true) and contacts a few laughs and many emotional moments. Jesus is Lord who came to seek and to save the lost and the 5 martyr missionaries gave their lives to reach a tribe, who in turn gave themselves to Jesus Christ and began living in the modern world, without spearing each other to death and living in fear. This is a great story of redemption, missions and forgiveness.
