Quality product Jan. 18 2013

I saw this at a local B&M store at a significant price, so went on amazon and bought about a dozen for a more reasonable price.
I made the mistake of not turning off ambient lighting when I first plugged it in as it would no stay on, But once the room was mostly dark. The path light worked perfectly. You can plug it in with the led pointing up or down on a standard wall receptacle.
To my eyes, its not too yellowish or too blueish for those who remember first gen white leds.
Motion detection is pretty good range wise (activates about 12ft away, as long as you are in the zone of detection, but they could improve the degree of the detection zone (its not 180, more like 120 give or take 10 degrees)

Not 180° sensor March 16 2012

The sensor works when you're about 45° from center. I would say this unit has a 90° sensor. When used in the narrow hallway you'll be about 4 feet away before it turns on.

I'm still shopping for a better model... this one is *okay,* but not great. Feb. 18 2013

Edit: found one i think is perfect. Here's the [link](http://www.amazon.com/HDE%C2%AE-Motion-Detecting-Light-Radial-Sensor/dp/B0096TU5Y2/ref=cm_aya_orig_subj)

Now back to the Energizer review:
This Energizer light works as advertised, but hasn't turned out to be the ideal solution for me. Now I'm on Amazon shopping for battery operated versions.

Before purchasing, really think about light placement and what outlets are available to you. Some of the outlets I'd intended on using have furniture nearby that interfere with the unit picking up motion. Also, because of the size of the light, it really crowds the second socket on the wall plate. Not all devices with big plugs can share a dual-outlet with this nightlight.

The light is weaker than I expected. I agree with the reviewers who said the *light* didn't cover as much area as they anticipated; i think that's due to the light's placement inside the unit. The motion sensor works well, turning the light on when you're in reasonable proximity.

I like that the light shines downwards, as it reduces eye strain. I don't love the color of the light, but it's pretty standard for these modern LED lights to cast this same, bluish-white light. The light quality does have a harsh tone.

I like the length of time the light stays on. I love the fact that the light never comes on during daylight or when the overhead lights are on. I love that I can trust that the light really will turn off after it's allotted 90 seconds. (I've had versions that don't.)

Another reviewer said that he plugged the light in for hours and it would never hold a charge. It's not supposed to hold a charge, and won't work unless it's plugged in... he was either reviewing the wrong product or hadn't read the packaging well.

One issue I ran into is that when the light is plugged into a countertop-level outlet, items that you place on the countertop near the light (within about 8 inches) can confuse the sensor so that the light blinks on and off continuously until the item is moved away.

I think this light is okay, but I won't be able to use it in all the ways I'd planned to. I had bought three, but will be returning one, relocating one, and only using one of the three in its originally intended spot.

best night light Oct. 21 2012
By Prentice Smith - Published on Amazon.com
I bought two of these, placed one in a hall way and the other in an outlet that faces the entry door. The one in the hall has to see sideways and it will not come on until I am 3 to 4 feet away. But, coming toward the room face on, I am detected almost 20 feet away. Awesome for a $12.00 item! The light is not bright, but its plenty to help see when getting up in the dark. I have one in the bedroom that faces the bed, and when I roll over it comes on. Duh, it takes some practice of just where to put it.

It will not light up a whole room, that is why its called a path light. And, its only 12 bucks.

path light April 20 2012

I didn't know how we need these path lights until we bought some. It makes your
house so much safer for quick trips in and out of room and you don't need to turn
on the big light.
