Product Description

Enterprise architecture defines a firm’s needs for standardized tasks, job roles, systems, infrastructure, and data in core business processes. Thus, it helps a company to articulate how it will compete in a digital economy and it guides managers’ daily decisions to realize their vision of success. 4.0 out of 5 stars A rare cogent work on enterprise architecture, Jan 21 2012
This review is from: Enterprise Architecture As Strategy: Creating a Foundation for Business Execution (Hardcover)
It is only rarely that business books, including on enterprise architecture, and concisely written, and avoid jargon. Some jargon is inescapable in this work, however the ideas are well presented and graspable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Save your business by planning better, Dec 13 2007

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Enterprise Architecture As Strategy: Creating a Foundation for Business Execution (Hardcover)
I've worked in the technology field for over 6 years. In that time, I've consulted for a number of large Fortune 500 corporations while implementing ERP systems. You can easily see the differences between a well run company vs a poorly run one. One differentiator is how they leverage their IT capabilities. Most organizations either ignore or fear technology. As a result, they fail to plan for a key aspect of their business which would otherwise give them a significant competitive advantage.

This book provides you with the fundamental considerations when trying to develop an IT strategy that meets the corporate business strategy. It is not technical at all and focuses more on strategy and execution.

It's a great 'starter' book with many real world examples written in a similar manner to many HBS cases. If you are looking for more in-depth material around Enterprise Architecture, however, I'd suggest looking at documentation for the actual frameworks themselves.
