Effective Treatment of Autism, Jun 20 2011
Kids on the autism spectrum are simply biologically not well. All the speech therapy and IBI in the world will not address the fact that metabolic processes are not working. Your regular family doctor will not know or advise you on autism lab work you need. Find a DAN doctor read more about this at the Autism Research Institute (autism.com) and Taca.com. Sure kids can learn how to manage / function better with behavior and other external therapies but that will not heal the sickness causing the autism condition and autism symptoms. If you are a parent trying to heal your child of autism, this is a must read. For some parents this may be all you need to recover your child from autism, for others it will greatly improve your child's health and enable other therapies to be more successful. This is an easy to read, easy to follow and understand book. It makes sense and shows you a simple path to treat heal and recover children from autism. All our children diagnosed with autism are different and some respond better than others to various treatments. I believe this enzyme therapy will help all children with autism, some more than others and some will gain complete recovery as many parents have attested to. No matter what type of autism, improving digestion, healing your gut and getting nutrition from your food is a win win, with no risks. This treatment/strategy is good for everyone and life changing for some to the point of losing their diagnosis. We are using this therapy and see great benefits for our son, it is a work in progress and we are excited with the results. We have done and continue to do many therapies (DAN, IBI, ABA, Speech Therapy, Special Diets, Supplements, HBOT etc). I wish we read this years ago because we would be much further ahead today. We may or may not be as successful as the author or other parents in reversing autism with enzyme therapy but it helps immensely and that is all that matters. Final words. A must read for all working to treat, heal and cure autism.

Hope for Freedom from Special Diets, Dec 1 2003
This review is from: Enzymes for Autism and Other Neurological Conditions: A Practical Guide: A Story, an Adventure, Practical Information and Science (Paperback)
Well written, well researched the author shares with us her frustrations with her 2 special children on her journey on the road to find out. All this is mixed with wry, humorous insights so there are many chuckles in this otherwise unique presentation on the very specialized area of enzymes. The HOPE that she offers to the families is so exciting because the special diets recommended for autistic children are so restrictive. Her subtitle says it all: The Practical Guide for Digestive Enzymes & Better Behavior.

Help for Autistic children, May 3 2003
This review is from: Enzymes for Autism and Other Neurological Conditions: A Practical Guide: A Story, an Adventure, Practical Information and Science (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book, I actually read it in one day. It describes in layman's terms about how digestive enzymes can dramatically improve behavior and help with development in autistic children. Karen DeFelice is a mother of two autistic children, and she describes, from her own experience, her journey in using digestive enzymes and how it helped her and her children. As a mother of an autistic child, it gave me some great advice and guidelines for using the digestive enzymes, and described exactly how to go about trying this method, which has been successful in help other autistic children on the road to recovery. After reading the book it is something I will definitely try.
