This DVD is an excellent way for children to see how beloved children's author Eric Carle creates his magic. I'm a little concerned over the price though. $69.95? What's up with that? It must come with Eric Carle himself to load it into your DVD player for you.

Eric Carle: Fabulous Artist/Storyteller, July 2 2006

I have shown this video to my fourth grade students every year. It is one of their favorites. Mr. Carle tells about his life as a child artist and about who inspired him. He demonstrates how he does his beautiful collages in one of the most exquisite studios I've seen! His stories of his mother, grandmother and kindergarten teacher bring tears to my eyes. Virtually every student, year after year, would sit transfixed and filled with a desire to create beautiful pictures like Mr. Carle's. Every child who has read his books will love watching him create. It's a treasure! (I bought it at the National Gallery gift shop in Washington, DC, where the salespeople say it's their favorite, too. They wish it was on DVD so it would sell better)

I have used the VHS of this title several times in my classroom, and it is fantastic! It allowed my students to feel as if they had met Eric Carle, and his descriptions of his artwork are great. I absolutely feel it's worth the cost! :-)
