4.0 out of 5 stars Slightly Chopped..but not very well Dec 1 2008
Format:DVD
Okay I ordered this film not knowing that I was getting The Director's "Son's" Version. First off the film has been cut to like 70 or 75 minutes which is kinda weird because what was wrong with the original version to begin with. And second the "Son's Version" cut short two scenes which were I guess a couple of my favorite scenes. The scenes in question being the part where Erik and his crew where all getting ready to commit mass suicide when they thought they were all going to drown and they had their swords held at each others throats. Say good bye to that scene, which I was looking forward to while viewing this dvd. And the second scene that I was waiting for was when the "Berserk" guy was foaming up and going into a "Berserk Mode" moment when they were battling those skull face guys. That scene has been cut as well but should have been left in because I thought it was a hilarious scene with him foaming up and going berserk. All in all still a good comedy but with two good comedy scenes cut out and cut short.

3.0 out of 5 stars The origional was better Feb 3 2010
Format:DVD
Although the director and his son prefure their new edit of this movie, i much prefured the origional cut. Also, this movie is much shorter than the origional so they cut a lot out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Erik the Viking Nov 7 2004
By A Customer
Format:DVD
Tim Robbins is Erik the Viking, on a quest to find and blow the Horn Resounding to wake the Gods in Valhalla and end the winter. One of my favorite lines in the movie takes place in the sinking viking longboat, the characters are partnered up to kill each other no that no one has to suffer the shame and dishonour of death by drowning. The boat stops sinking because its perched on a reef, and Erik (Tim Robbins) says: "wait! nobody kill anybody!" Its a whimsical adventure with Pythonesque humour, scenery and actors. If you liked "Time Bandits", "The Adventures of Baron Von Munchausen" or "Zardoz", you probably already know and like "Erik the Viking"
