I love the characters, the plot, but the ending is too abrupt, and they could have done a bit more interaction with characters instead of jumping - in the middle (& I even paused it to go) I got lost as to who hate whom & who owed what to whom - then all of a sudden there is a lot of action & done. It got 3 for the characters (Sly & Arnie) but with those names I was expecting something akin to the Expend..... (you know)

Escape Plan arrives on blu-ray with MPEG-4 AVC 1080p 2.40:1 encode. The picture was photographed digitally with the Arri Alexa camera system, which is now well established as a cinematic replacement for film. The picture displays a cold, metallic, and glass prison environment contrasted with naturally hued monitor rooms. Fleshtones are perfectly rendered. Everything appears realistic, with contrast that is well balanced throughout. Blacks are deep. Resolution is excellent, with exceptional detail exhibited in fine facial features, hair, clothing, and object texture. (5/5)

Escape Plan comes with DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio track, which is effectively dynamic yet nuanced during the quieter scenes. Atmospherics and sound effects are convincingly realistic, with effective surround envelopment. The orchestral score is well recorded with a wide and deep soundstage and an aggressive surround presence. This is an excellent soundtrack. (5/5)

In Escape Plan, one of the world's foremost authorities on structural security agrees to take on one last job, breaking out of an ultra-secret, high-tech facility called “The Tomb.” Deceived and wrongly imprisoned, Ray Breslin (Stallone) must recruit fellow inmate Emil Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger) to help devise a daring, nearly impossible plan to escape from the most protected and fortified prison ever built. This is a fun and entertaining movie to a certain degree, with two aging actors, Stallone and Schwarzenegger, still kicking butts. (3/5)

Escape Plan is nothing great, but it is a lot of fun. We finally have Schwarzenegger and Stallone in an action movie together, where the two are the only main stars. There are plenty of fights and action scenes to go around.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sly and Arnie deliver solid escapist fun Jan. 22 2014
By Andrew
Action movie buffs rejoice: Escape Plan features the long-awaited onscreen pairing of iconic 1980s muscle men Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. While these two action legends teamed up briefly in The Expendables franchise, Escape Plan is the first time they have done so in starring roles. The result? A satisfying B-movie that delivers just enough to compensate for some gaping plot holes and corny dialogue.

For decades action movie junkies dreamed of these two titans sharing the screen. Escape Plan is admittedly a bit of an odd choice for Stallone and Schwarzenegger’s much-anticipated collaboration. Swedish director Mikael Hafstrom concentrates on building the suspense and only towards the end does the movie unleash the bullets, blood and mayhem that are the hallmarks of a Stallone or Schwarzenegger picture.

Fortunately, Escape Plan doesn’t take itself too seriously. A quick glance at the movie’s synopsis confirms that this will not be another Shawshank Redemption. Stallone plays Ray Breslin, a structural security expert who literally wrote the book on designing escape-proof prisons. He earns his trade by intentionally getting locked up in prisons and subsequently devising clever ways to escape, thus exposing the design flaws to prison authorities. His latest assignment involves breaking out of “The Tomb”, a top secret, state-of-the-art prison that houses the world’s most dangerous criminals. Soon he realizes he’s been double-crossed and thrown into a seemingly escape-proof prison run by a twisted warden (Jim Caviezel) with an axe to grind. Breslin’s only hope is to join forces with an enigmatic fellow inmate Emil Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger) and turn the tables on the warden and his sadistic prison guards.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good escape film with Sly and Arnie! May 12 2014
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
Not as good as The Expendables, but still a good film to see. I only compare it to the Expendables because of the pairing of Arnie and Sly in both films.
