Eurhythmics, a dynamic, active approach to teaching and learning music, was developed by Swiss musician Emile Jaques-Dalcroze. Ideal for preschool and early elementary music classes, the lessons include detailed procedures, stories for creative movement, songs with piano accompaniments, examples for piano improvisation, and numerous exercises in rhythmic movement.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Winner! Aug. 29 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Clear, easy-to-follow lesson plans and great music -- a winner for teachers and young students alike! Seasonal themes will appeal to kids (and who could resist the "Bug Squash Walk"! )
While you don't need a Dalcroze background to appreciate this book, it's a welcome and inspiring addition to the literature for Dalcroze educators.

5.0 out of 5 stars Musical movements aid learning and motivation March 1 2006
By Dianne Thornburgh - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Excellent lesson ideas to help develop musical ideas through incorporation of movements. The lessons can be easily adapted to help music learners of ALL ages learn the fundamentals of beat (pulse), tempo, rhythmic patterns, and rests. I was so impressed that I purchased the whole set.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful Oct. 27 2013

I was familiar with Dalcroze having read a bit about the method and observed several classes. When I wanted to incorporate those concepts into my teaching, I was a little stuck. This book was a perfect introduction. There was a little Dalcroze theory, and a lot of practical advice. I found I could take as much or as little of the lesson plans as I wanted. If you teach music to young children, this is a great source for new ideas, even if you're not familiar with the Dalcroze philosophy.
5.0 out of 5 stars awesome movement ideas! Oct. 6 2012

I use this book so much in my k-1 general music classes. This book would work the best w/ small groups of kids, but I modify things to make them work w/ my larger classes. I really think Dale's movements help children listen and develop many skills without realizing that they are learning!
