The 15th century armorial reproduced here (not in color, unfortunately), comprises a series of fifty-three striking equestrian figures in full tournament heraldic dress. The boldly drawn figures, most of them of sovereigns and great nobles, are highly stylized, to emphasize the herald's art. Heraldry was still evolving at this time, and works of this kind were creating the precedents still followed today.
