This tune has a really great vibe to it and Amazon Canada has the 7" vinyl at a great price - $2.99 as of this writing. This is how singles should be done, and a big reason why the major labels screwed themselves out of the game when they tried to stop the $1.99 CD single and raised CD's to $20+ when many people just wanted one track.

Coldplay's big sound is here and they haven't reinvented the wheel. Nice deep bass, great harmonies and good instrumentation as well as a catchy verse and nice chorus transition make this single a sure fire radio hit, but what about the collectible blue 7" vinyl?? On the back it says "Made in the EU" and that made me smile, because my experience with vinyl imported from the EU, or pressings from the UK and Germany, has been largely excellent. The Urban Hymns UK pressing for example far outshines the USA pressing in surface noise and overall pressing quality.

So how is this one? Wake up call...UGH! Brutal, you would have thought this had just been pulled out of an attic where it had sat for 30 years collecting dust WITHOUT a cover on it, totally bare to the elements. The crackling is intrusive throughout, this is simply a rubbish pressing even though it arrived sealed. Everything else about it looks great, the cover art, the sleeve, the blue vinyl, I was really disappointed when the needle hit the grooves after racing downstairs to finally hear thing song in all its hifi glory and not through YouTube on my crappy PC speakers.

I hope the album's vinyl pressing is better and that they consider spreading it over 2 sides, unlike the other albums which have all been squeezed into single issues so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars be careful before purchasing June 26 2011
By dm - Published on Amazon.com
First off... The Every Teardrop is a Waterfall EP is supposed to have 3 songs:
Every Teardrop is a Waterfall
Major Minus
Moving to Mars

For some reason, Amazon is not including Moving to Mars...

Anyway, I've heard all three songs and they are fantastic. It's not like their older songs, but that's to be expected with Coldplay.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazon Catch Up Please June 27 2011
By Omicronpersei8 - Published on Amazon.com
Is amazon going to catch up with itunes and release the full ep that coldplay releases for download? I don't use itunes and refuse to do so, because of their file format being product specific, but amazon needs to catch up with the times. Are they hoping to sell this album twice to coldplay fans? Why are you treating your customers this way? Where is the third song "Moving To Mars?" Get it together! Or maybe I will find a company that does, like emusic.com

You guys are too slow with album releases. itunes has it all way before you guys.

But like the other person before me mentioned, this is an awesome EP. Once I can download it, I will.

4.0 out of 5 stars A blend of Strawberry Swing/Lovers in Japan June 3 2011
By Matt Patton - Published on Amazon.com

After years of waiting, expectations were high. As usual, Coldplay has experimented with changing their sound and style, and that desire for alteration is evident here. However, it does seem to have lingering similarities to Strawberry Swing and Lovers in Japan, from the previous album.
Sadly, this song didn't have the WOW factor for me. Don't get me wrong. It's catchy, it's enjoyable to listen to, I think it's just missing the emotional attachment that I immediately embraced when I first heard Viva La Vida, Life in Technicolor ii, In My Place, Politik, Fix You, etc.
Enjoyable, fun to listen to, I'm just hoping it gets better as more of the album is released.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unmistakably Coldplay June 3 2011
By Sean Solitro - Published on Amazon.com
The song itself is fun, upbeat, and enjoyable. I have heard others describe it as "not Coldplay". However, this song is true to form for Coldplay. They are all about experimenting with each new album. I highly doubt that this will be the hit single from the new album, but it is a nice introduction. If anything, it allows me to look forward to what else the new album has to offer.

Well played, Coldplay. Well played.

The best song on the EP is missing. I hate to say this, but I'm going to iTunes. I HATE ITUNES.
