Process Music Aug. 6 2005
By K. Morrison - Published on
Format: Audio CD
Colleen's first album is built entirely of small fragmented loops taken from various sampled sources. The music is very simple, slow, beautiful. One thing that I find amazing about this is that Colleen's music is the process itself. That is, what you're hearing as the end result is the very means by which it is made - the simple loops. You're hearing the broken pieces of the music placed next to eachother. She lets the seams show. If you have the patience for quiet and slow music, then this comes highly recommended.

Amazing June 17 2005
By Mylo - Published on
Format: Audio CD
This cannot be right...why hasn't anyone reviewed this yet? Well, I will not compare it to anything else, let me just tell you that it is amazing. Good for listening to when you want to get lost, because it will happen indefinitely. Where it takes you is sometimes a scary place, but sometimes the happiest place you have ever imagined.

A truly amazing CD, expressive, creative, beautiful, simple and yet sophisticated all at the same time. A must for anyone interested in contemporary ambient music.

Great soundtrack to make up experimental animated films to in your mind. Aug. 31 2011
By twark maine - Published on
Format: Audio CD
I ran into this album at a local record store and the more I listened to it the more I fell in love with it. It could be described as experimental ambient electronica, but Colleen has a way to select and process the sounds and layer the gestures that hits an immediate and unique spot, making my musical brain wonder intently:
Where does she take all of this from?
What is the mystery behind all these compelling, riveting textures and developments?

Each track has its own atmosphere, sometimes warm and cozy, like grandma telling you forgotten stories while you watch super-8 films of your childhood, some spooky and playful like paper maché ghosts dancing around in a toy castle, others bringing a fragile and mysterious beauty to life that seems dusted but you better put your gloves on and be extremely careful when you handle it! :)

There is no limit to the images that come to mind when I listen to this album, and I wonder if I'm the only one who sees the immense quality of what Colleen has achieved.
It works well as a vinyl record too.

Anyone who is looking for soundtracks to experimental film should definitely give it a listen, if only for inspiration.
None of it seems overly complicated, but I never heard an electronica album as mysterious, beautiful, deep, poetic, melancholic and warm that would come even close to affecting me with the same intensity.
Occasional mistiness included. (Babies?)

Hope we hear more from her like this. <3
Colleen ‎- Everyone Alive Wants Answers Sept. 15 2013

Colleen's debut EVERYONE ALIVE WANTS ANSWERS is like a sonic blast of bliss; the opening title track layers on the sounds for a cloud-like atmosphere. Meanwhile, the loop on "Ritournelle" flits around like a fairy on a leash, while the short and shimmering "Your Heart On Your Sleeve" drifts on the edge of happiness. "Long Live Mice In The Metro" brings in a wobbly darkness, while "I Was Deep In A Dream And I Didn't Know It" is spare and nearly glacial. The music box melodies of "Babies" blends a sweetness with an edge of creepiness, and "A Swimming Pool Down The Railway Track" clatters with seemingly found percussion and organ swells. And "Nice And Simple" ends the album on a bright note. Utterly unique and compelling.
