1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money, Jun 9 2004
By

This is a good book for those who know how to use a PDA and are experts at reading and writing code. It is not for beginners or those who have never seen Win CE. But if you love computers and techie gadgets, are good with code and like to play with electronic toys, are looking for another techie's love of toys, then you might get something out of it. But if you are inclined in that way you already know this stuff. Don't waste your money. There are other books that do a better job in both areas

5.0 out of 5 stars Do More With Your PocketPC, May 21 2004
By
This book is great! Whether you're a novice or seasoned veteran with PocketPCs, this is the book to get. It can be read chapter by chapter or used as a reference manual. If you just bought a PocketPC and you're confused with the little or no information from the manufacturer, get this book. The author takes you through some of the more intimidating set-up procedures in an easy step-by-step order to get your handheld up and running. Each aspect of the programs- Word, Excel, and Outlook - is covered in a clear-cut, understandable manner. Accessory programs that can be added are also covered if you want to extend the functionality of your device. I bought 2 other books on the PocketPC; I found this one the most informative.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun book for the PocketPC enthusiast, Dec 7 2003

This review is from: How To Do Everything With Your Pocket PC, 2nd Edition (Paperback)
This is a really fun book to read. It is designed to help PocketPC users understand just what they can do with their really expensive toy. While it's probably not a good book for techies, since they will probably be able to figure out everything they're PocketPC can do pretty quickly anyway, it is good for everyone else.

The book starts out pretty much how you would expect it: with a section on how to synch your PocketPC and other introductory steps. Once you've got it synched, there is a discussion on personalization features of the PocketPC. The book then goes through each of the types of things you can do with a PocketPC: make contacts and manage appointments, use PocketPC versions of Excel and Word, call someone on the phone (if you're lucky enough to have the PocketPC Phone Edition), take notes, access multimedia content, use mapping software, and even instant message.
