5.0 out of 5 stars Repulsively addicting!, Feb 5 2009
By

(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Evil Without A Face (Mass Market Paperback)
Jessica "Jess" Beckett is a freelance bounty hunter. Whenever she runs across abusers, Jess gives them extra attention due to her horrifying past. One good thing came from that terrifying time though, Jess made friends with Samantha "Sam" Cooper. It was Sam that helped rescue Jess so long ago. Now Sam is Vice with Chicago P.D. Though they love each other as sisters, Jess still cannot bring herself to fully trust her friend. New to Jess's bounty hunting team is young Seth Harper. Even though Seth is not what he appears to be, Jess's instincts told her to hire him on-the-spot. The young man can blend into upper crust crowds as easily as the lower and he is a computer genius.

While Jess is giving some extra attention to a low life named Lucas Baker, she and Seth stumble upon an international organization, calling itself Globe Harvest, that barters in human lives. Striking a major nerve from her past, Jess is unable to stop herself from going after Globe Harvest.

Payton Archer is a former pro football player. His sister, Susannah, and his seventeen-year-old niece, Nikki, are his reasons for living. So when Susannah frantically calls him and says that Nikki has disappeared, Payton charges into action. The leads take him out of state (from Alaska) and all the way to Chicago. The main players come together and only by joining forces do any of them have a chance of locating Nikki and possibly getting a foothold into Globe Harvest.

***** This one hits all parents with one of their worst nightmares, their child disappearing. The most chilling part of this story is that such organizations and their actions DO exist. Jordan Dane paints a grizzly plot with such realistic characters that they seem to jump off the pages. Repulsively addicting! *****

5.0 out of 5 stars Evil Without a Face- A Joyfully Reviewed, Feb 16 2009
By M. Nix - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Evil Without A Face (Mass Market Paperback)
Fugitive Recovery Agent Jessica Becket is hot on the trail of Lucas Baker. In the process of locating him she discovers that he's involved in a lot more than she thought. Jessie's best friend, Detective Samantha Cooper, has a hard time reigning Jessie in and keeping her out of trouble. She's on board helping her find out what Baker is doing though. Seth Harper is Jessie's new hire. He's a mysterious computer wiz and an undeniable asset to her.

Ex- football player, Payton Archer is trying to find his niece, Nikki who's disappeared. His search takes him to Chicago where Sam has taken over the case. Payton and Jessie along with the help of the Chicago Police Department and the FBI begin searching for Nikki and other missing kids who are being used by a group known to play in the human trafficking game. It's a race against time to get Nikki back but Payton won't give up, and Jessie can't. She faces her own demons every time she thinks of the missing kids. Together, they'll stop at nothing to save them and send the bad guys to hell, where they belong.

Sit tight, buckle in, and hold on, Evil Without a Face is a wild ride. The villains take Jessica, Payton, and everyone else on a high-speed chase to save Nikki and stop the bad guys. Outwardly, Jessica is tough as nails. She's scared, strong, and seemingly invincible but inside she's vulnerable and desperately needs some TLC. Payton carries his own internal scars, which is why when they meet, Payton and Jessie connect immediately. They are like kindred spirits, two halves of a whole. Along with the intense relationship that blooms between Payton and Jessie, is the frightening tale of internet predators. With excitement and danger on every page, Evil Without a Face is impossible to put down. Jordan Dane rocks my world once again with Evil Without a Face. I can't wait to read the elusive and mysterious Seth Harper's story next!

5.0 out of 5 stars Internet draws young girl into slave ring, Feb 15 2009
By Cy B. Hilterman "Cy. Hilterman" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Evil Without A Face (Mass Market Paperback)
Nikki Archer is a seventeen-year old girl going on twenty-nine who lives in Alaska. She is not happy with her life. She needs more freedom. Nikki, like far too many young people in our world of computers, has made connections with others online that she knew were good for her life and she decided to turn one of those contacts into a life-changing experience.

Jessica Beckett is a bounty hunter that goes gung-ho after her victims without regard for her safety, a fact that has hurt her in the past but the thrill of hunting and catching a wanted person for reward was her life. Lucas Baker was one such slum bag she was searching for. Jess had found a "cheap salaried" employee to assist her in her searches, one that was an expert on computers. She used Seth Harper as a backup but he was too new to put in a dangerous situation. She had to use Seth in a trial by error status. Jess also used a good friend and cop, Samantha Cooper, when she needed some information unobtainable to her.

Nikki's uncle, Payton Archer, was an ex-pro-football player and sister of Nikki's mother Suzanne. When he and Suzanne discovered Nikki missing they tried to track her down and eventually did find information on Nikki's computer where she had been talking and making plans to go with unknowns to Chicago. Nikki made good her escape from her home but got caught up in a sex/slave organization that captured many young girls and used them or sold them. Once they were drawn in to the organization, they had no way to escape. They had to try to live through much nasty and filthy handling and living conditions.

Payton, Jessica, Seth, and another good friend of Payton's and an ex-Alaska State Trooper, Joe Tanu, joined forces to attempt to track down Nikki, an undertaking that became a huge search and brought them too close to many seedy killers. The joining of forces with another international group to track the worldwide slave/sex monsters was really interesting and suspenseful. Jordan Dane is a fairly new author and all of her books have been sensational leaving the reader almost breathless following her characters with her very descriptive words and phrases of the humans as well as the various locations where they are active. I have not been disappointed with any of her books. She keeps the reader active during her chases and makes you feel hurt when your hero gets hurt and feel good when they capture the bad guy!

3.0 out of 5 stars 1st in a trilogy but still..., Feb 13 2011
By mahikahn - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Evil Without A Face (Mass Market Paperback)

Jessica Beckett is a bounty hunter investigating a child kidnapping ring. Payton Archer is an ex pro football player whose niece is kidnapped. OK, so the male and female leads didn't even meet under 2/3 of the way through the book and I saw no attraction. I expected him to get together with Sam who he spent a lot more time with. And by the way, the start of the relationship between Sam and Jessica was not clearly explained nor was what happened to Jessica as a child. The characters weren't fleshed out at all. I've read a lot of Jordan Dane's books and she's a very good writer. I have the other two books in the trilogy so hopefully they will be better.
