Product Description

Evolutionary psychologists typically think of men as having lower standards than women, especially in short-term mating. Alice Andrews explores the alternative view that men are wired to be (relatively) more self-deceptive and don?t actually feel as if they?re lowering their standards at all. She relates this to left/right brain differences, and argues that it makes evolutionary sense that men who were more self-deceptive about a woman's appearance, how they felt about her, etc., would have left more genes. And the reverse is true: women who were less self-deceptive and more honest and had a better theory of mind would have left more genes.
