I bought this book with high hopes after reading all the reviews. There were plenty of errors (especially with regards to the answer key...be aware) but mostly I found that the score I was getting in these tests was way off from the scores I was getting from the AAMC practice tests. These tests are good practice for timing and structure, but the answers they provide are purposefully tricky and often misleading...even more so than the actual MCAT....which is saying something. I think it is useful, but only in addition to the practice tests provided by the AAMC.

Some say VR is a section that you're either good at or not. However, I've found from my personal experience that PRACTICE HELPS!!! It really gets you used to reading MCAT style passages (although they might be more interesting), but the key is getting used to the question types/styles. After completing the whole book of questions, I found myself much more comfortable with VR and managed to score pretty consistently around 11 (having scored 7 on my first MCAT). Trust me, as long as you're simulating the MCAT environment while doing these questions, THE PRACTICE WILL PAY OFF. What have you got to lose?

One of the best books for verbal reasoning. I used this book as well as the Kaplan one and earned 11 on VR. :).

I think I made the right choice of buying this book. the book was in excellent condition and arrived within 2 days. the material presented in the book is accurate and to the point. Since i'm planning to take MCAT next year, so i don't know how fair is the content in comparison to the real MCAT, but most of the students who have already taken MCAT recommended me to use this book. I think if you plan on buying this book, its a great investment that will heap very good results ..... :)

I purchased this book and utilized it as my main source for verbal prep. Although I did not complete the book cover to cover I did find it useful for preparing myself for the verbal section of the MCAT.

I made sure to time myself while completing the practice passages so that I could get my timing down for the real thing.

I ended up achieving my goal for verbal on the real deal (>10).

This book is not worth buying, all of the passages except for a few are the exact same as the first edition which can be purchased for much less. The only difference between this and the first edition is that this is divided into 60 min tests while the first ed is in 85 min tests.
That being said, the tests are very helpful and seem to be good practice. I would definitely recommend buying the first ed unless this is on sale for cheap.

This book is very poorly written. The explanations for answers aren't descriptive. For example, the question will ask what assumption is made and the explanation will be "it is clear that the idea implies [reworded answer]". The author does an incredibly poor job with this book and I would recommend you to avoid it at all costs. The only thing that stopped me from giving it 1 star is how it gives you 101 passages, which is quite a bit of practice. But otherwise, avoid this book! I found Princeton Review to be better, giving more detailed explanations. Kaplan was alright as well; I had no problems with that. But Examkrackers is not good. I regret my purchase.

Honestly thought it best represented the actual verbal section. Also, ample prep in the book is given as 101 passages takes quite a while.
