The method in this book is amazing (although the writing is not). Since I read it four months ago, my masters thesis was accepted for publication in a world-class scholarly journal, another essay I wrote was published in a book, I found a perfect job literally without trying (I had given up after looking for over a year), my husband (who hasn't read the book, but whom I've been thinking happy thoughts about) also got an incredible new job without any effort, and our family income has more than doubled. We will be completely out of debt in a few months, rather than in years as we thought. My health has improved immensely. I am a lawyer & have a logical mind. I do not like all of the new-age-y pseudo-science about vibrations that she uses in the book, but the practice of making yourself happy & "feeling what you want" works incredibly well. Not only that, I am able to make myself feel happy & good when I want to, not just when things are going well. And I always get the best parking spaces now. I'm not joking. If you had told me last year that I would be where I am now, I wouldn't have believed you. Get this book, plow through the so-so writing, and use the theory. It's like a diamond in a paper bag.

I was skeptical. It seemed too simple. Yet I was able to bring into my life the exact job I was looking for by following the advice in this book. I made a list of all the things I wanted my new job to be and every day, several times a day, I read the list while working at creating good feelings about having this job (not an easy thing for me to do at the time since my financial situation was bleak and I was filled with crippling self-doubt, worry and fear). After a few weeks, seemingly "out of the blue," I got word of what sounded like the job I was looking for. I called, landed an interview the next day, and walked out of that interview hired. It was amazing. I've been doing the job for 8 weeks now and it's the most enjoyable job I've ever had. (I'm in my mid 40's, so I've had my share of jobs!) I'm now applying the same technique to other goals and I'm already seeing things beginning to line up for them. So cool.
Don't let the casual tone of the writing make you think this isn't important stuff. Instead of an "expert" or "guru" preaching to you, the tone of the book is like having a good friend relay some wonderful discovery they made and now wishes to share.
Although the technique is simple, it's not so easy to practice, so wired are our brains to think in terms of lack. For me, it's been best to write a list of my "wants" and to read it and feel good about it as often as I can, several times a day, every day.
For a deeper and more traditionally spiritual take on the same subject, check out Dr. Wayne Dyer's The Power of Intention.

Yes, it sounds like new-age hokum, but deep down inside, you know instinctively that it works. The most powerful message of this book (I listened to it on tape) is not just HOW to get what you want in life, but that's it's OKAY to want what you want! This is a big jump for so many of us. Once we are willing make that jump, Grabhorn is there to encourage and show us the way. It really makes sense.
I really enjoyed listening to the tapes. I like her speaking style; it's very human and down-to-earth.
If you open your ears, and open your mind even just a little bit to the message of this book, good things can't help but happen.

The subtitle of Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting by Lynn Grabhorn is "The astonishing power of feelings". She says: "We create by feeling, not by thought. That's right, we get what we get by the way we feel, not by trying to slug things into place or control our minds....The Law of Attraction - like attracts like - is absolute (and has nothing to do with personalities)...We get what we focus on. Focus on the lack of what we want, and we are guaranteed to get more of it because, through matching vibrations, we magnetize it in. Law of Attraction, pure and simple".

The author describes the four steps to deliberate creation; the four steps she claims are guaranteed to bring into our lives whatever is our passion and much, much more. She says they are the basic principles from which all creation has sprung.

Step 1. Identify what you DON'T want.
Step 2. From that, identify what you DO want.
Step 3. Get into the feeling place of what you want.
Step 4. Expect, listen, and allow it to happen.

In her words: "The real reality is we have come here to thrive, and prosper, and live this grand human experience in light-hearted joy, not in struggle and pain. We have come here to have fun while we learn, to grow without suffering, and to harvest our desires in the absolute knowledge that we can have it all once we learn how to handle our energies...meaning...our emotions."

Grabhorn outlines the actual mechanics of how she believes we attract or repel absolutely every event in our lives. She says: "The way we think causes the way we feel, and the way we feel causes how we vibrate, and the way we vibrate IS HOW WE ATTRACT.
