Remastered from the Original Studio Tapes "Experience Hendrix"Brings Together the Biggest Hits from the Greatest Guitarist of all Time. This 20 Track Compilation Includes all the Most Memorable Songs from his Incredible Career, Including Signature
Experience Hendrix brings together the major singles with a stack of majestic album tracks and the career-defining live Woodstock version of "The Star Spangled Banner" on a fat 20-tracker. While best used as a sampler to direct new listeners to the immortal Are You Experienced, Electric Ladyland, and so on, the CD (which supplants the short-lived Ultimate Experience collection) does hang together as a listen. Its blend of Hendrix the rocker and Hendrix the underrated soul man is suggestive, painting a picture of a multifaceted genius and transcending its plainly mercenary origins. In the end, its effect--like that of all Hendrix's best records--is to remind us of a Jimi very, very much alive. --Rickey Wright

My favorite tracks on this CD are (but they all are great):
The Wind Cries Mary, Hey Joe, Angel, All Along The Watchtower, Little Wing, Bold As Love, Castles Made of Sand, Red House.
If your tastes are for his heavier rock...then check out Purple Haze, Manic Depression, If 6 Was 9, Foxey Lady, Voodoo Child, & his unforgettable rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" (wicked)!
This album starts off with "Purple Haze." Probably Jimi's most famous song, and everyone STILL loves it today. It has all the elements of a perfect rock song. Next, we have "Fire." It's fast, it's catchy, and it shows off his skill. "The Wind Cries Mary" is mellow and sweet and absolutely gorgeous. I personally love "Hey Joe." It's rather slow, but it has a great melody. The following song is GENIUS! Poor Bob Dylan, Jimi really upstaged him here. "All Along the Watchtower" is the quintessential Jimi Hendrix song. It's musical bliss! Listen to the Bob Dylan's version, then listen to Jimi's. One ncan only pity poor Bob. "Stone Free" is also a great song. Jimi shows off his guitarmanship, and I must add that it has quite a good bass line. Time for a paragraph break so you folks don't get bored.
Ah, "Crosstown Traffic," if only rock songs nowadays could be as good as this. It really is quite an addictive song. "Manic Depression" is next. You might think from the title that this song is slow and, well, depressing. It is NOT. It has good lyrics, and the song is fast, catchy and has some great guitaring in it. I also must add that the drumming here super. OH MY FAVOURITE SONG IS NEXT. There are not words to describe my devotion to this song. It is musical PERFECTION. It's so sweet and so beautiful. The lyrics are fantastic and gorgeous, as is the melody. This song is too short. "If 6 was 9" is another one of Jimi's finest.Read more ›
I already wrote a review for the CD, giving it only three stars, but I decided to give it a solid five. The reason being a greatest hits compilation of any artist could never, ever be perfect. You take what you can get. And this CD just so happens to feature most of Jimi's best songs. Some might disgrace Jimi by calling the tunes on this album "nothing but Jimi's pop songs." Some might even call you a fool for starting here (just check out a few of these reviews), but it's how I got my foot in the door. I don't regret purchasing it at all.
Glaring omissions? You betcha. Machine Gun. Like A Rolling Stone. Burning Of The Midnight Lamp. Are You Experienced. Third Stone From The Sun. Hear My Train A Comin'. My Friend. The list is endless. But, as I said, greatest hits albums are never perfect, especially in Jimi's case.
Start here. Go further. Get experienced.
Then their is the songs from the masterpiece that changed the face of rock n roll Electric Ladyland.....Songs like All Along The Watchtower, Crosstown Traffic, and Voodoo Child(Slight Return). So far this includes all of the three complete studio albums Are You Experienced, Axis Bold As Love, and Electric Ladyland. Then their is the songs most people have never heard like Dolly Dagger, and Freedom from First Rays Of The New Rising Sun Hendrix's last album that was uncomplete when he died. Then their is also the Star Spangled Banner performed Live at Woodstock.
This album covers all of hendrix's known greatest hits that everybody loves. I recomend this to all of the early hendrix listeners this one is for you. I do think their should have been some songs added to this including Machine Gun a highlight from Hendrix's career he performed at the new year of 1970. But wait their is more Jimi Hendrix albums that are either rare studio work or live like South Sentra Delta, BBC Sessions, and The Band Of Gypsy's. Once again BUY THIS~Highly Recomened!

I was a Hendrix fan since day one. He revolutionized the way music was played and I still have memories of seeing him play once at the Capitol Theatre in Ottawa, Canada.Published on Dec 25 2013 by Ruby
Most if Hendrix music was brilliant...very few songs I don't care for. BUT, ONCE AGAIN, DEAD & BURIED MUCH TO YOUNG. AND easily predictable too.Published on Sept. 30 2013 by mrs. beeton
