5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a TEN! June 14 2007
By Teri Soares - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Congratulations to these two ladies for putting together one of the BEST books on heartfelt photography that I have seen. It's definitely centered on family life and children, so if you're looking to shoot landscapes you might want to go elsewhere.

Their new take on the 5 S's of Compostion and 4 M's of lighting are well illustrated with images and precisely detailed with words. Easy to remember, too.

The only way you could not benefit from this book would be not to read it! It's beautifully laid out, so scrapbookers will be inspired and equally well photographed so photographer will love it also.

Thank you Donna and Allison! When is your next book coming out?

5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL! April 22 2007
By Jill M. Paulson - Published on Amazon.com
I love, love, LOVE this book!! This is wonderfully inspirational! For me, it was the perfect balance of text (basic explanations and ideas) and photo examples by some extremely talented photographers.

This book is all about photographing people (the author says as much right in the introductory paragraph), so you won't find photos of inanimate objects or sweeping landscapes, but aren't scrapper's mainly about people anyway. It gave me a ton of ideas for future photos of my daughter.

I also love that that in the back of the book, it offered links to the websites of several of the photographers featured in the book - I checked them out - even MORE great inspiration!

Did I mention that I LOVE this book?

5.0 out of 5 stars Photographers MUST have July 21 2007
By S. Dade - Published on Amazon.com
WOW, I just purchased this book last night and I've only read to page 21. (because I have been mesmerized by the wonderful photography) I cannot say enough good things about what I had read thus far. I have many photography books however this will be the one that rarely stays on the shelf. It is a easy read while still giving definition to those important photography technical details. Like the introductions says if you are looking for photos of landscapes or hummingbirds you have the wrong book. If you are a mother or love children this book is for you. You do not need to be a serious photographer to purchase this book. And at the same time you can still learn things if you are a professional. (at least from the creative aspects)

In closing if I could I would give this 10 stars! Way to go Donna and Allison!

4.0 out of 5 stars great for beginners June 17 2009

I really felt inspired by this book. I am a professional photographer who photographs mainly babies and small children and I was looking for a book with a more "normal" person language instead of professional photography language. The images are very nice and I found it a great book to recommend my customers who want to learn better in their daily lives how to take better pictures of their own kids.
