Review

Susan found herself at the threshold of true spiritual transformation. The signs? A longing that nothing external, not romance, success, money, adventure, parenting, or creating, had ever fully satisfied. This book takes us through a remarkably powerful, helpful forgiveness process that will stir your desire to awaken to who you truly are. Her well documented life experiences demonstrate love in practice. If you want a real life account of how to undo the 'one' block to love, then this is your book. (Nouk Sanchez and Tomas Vieira, authors of Take Me to Truth: Undoing the Ego) Susan Dugan gives us a superb explanation of forgiveness, what it is, and exactly how to do it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who's interested in the fastest way to peace and enlightenment. (Gary Renard, bestselling author of The Disappearance of the Universe)

Product Description

In mid argument with a loved one, as we stand unfairly accused, we would much rather be right than happy. As practising forgiveness raises our awareness of our attraction to and identification with the ego's sneaky ways, our pain often increases. Some of these essays are reports from the eye of just that storm, accounts of my own fear, paralysis and mistaken belief in and attraction to a false, ego controlled self. But in each case, I got through by continuing to ask for help from the part of our mind that sees only our one true self and can never fail us. Today I am spending far less time in the eye of the storm and far more embracing the instant of release that reflects the real world available when we have forgiven all that would hurt us. You can, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Making the Ordinary Extraordinary, Mar 25 2011
By Alex Marchand - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Extraordinary Ordinary Forgiveness (Paperback)
The contemporary spiritual document known as A Course in Miracles teaches an extraordinary kind of forgiveness that quite frankly renders ordinary notions of forgiveness quite feeble. Yet, it is nonetheless in ordinary life that we must put that extraordinary forgiveness into practice. And author Susan Dugan is someone who does just that. By recounting several years of relatable, real life experiences, Susan shares how she practices extraordinary forgiveness in her normal, everyday life. From the trials and tribulations of raising a daughter to the precarious health of both canines and humans, Susan shows how all such things afford opportunities to heal our minds of the seeming separation from our source.

What I found particularly informative and enjoyable was the wonderful job Susan does at differentiating the two opposing voices in our minds: the ego and the Holy Spirit. In several places in the book, Susan recounts internal conversations with the ego, which serve as a great contrast with an eventual conversation she has with the Holy Spirit. It is something that will be of particular help to those often deceived by the ego in the guise of Spirit.

Overall, Susan does a great job of taking the lofty principles of A Course in Miracles and intertwining them with the practical application of the Course. Let this superb window into the everyday life of an A Course in Miracles student (and teacher) help guide you on your own journey to awakening as you too put Extraordinary Ordinary Forgiveness to work in your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary writing!, April 12 2011
By Evonne - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Extraordinary Ordinary Forgiveness (Paperback)
The way Susan Dugan's writing flows over, around and through your mind's ear is truly lyrical. I especially love the way her faux conversations with the ego are as entertaining as they are illuminating. I am very grateful for this charming and personal look into a seeker's soul.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extraordinarily Engaging, May 23 2011

This is the type of book, a series of essays, that you can open anywhere and read just one great nugget of truth at a time. But once I began I was hooked. I couldn't stop smiling, laughing out loud and nodding my head in agreement as I read each new entry. In sharing her personal journey of forgiveness and awakening, Susan is courageously vulnerable, wonderfully insightful and very entertaining. Teaching with clarity, wisdom and humor, she invites us to come along as she traverses the daily challenges of living in a body, in relationship with other bodies. Remembering to laugh and forgive along the way, she helps me to remember to take myself and my "problems" a little less seriously, recognizing that life really is but a dream.
