5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Book to Start You on the Path to Healthy Eating April 25 2012

This book is an easy read, written with plain & simple language with realistic advice. The content is so easy to understand (for USA readers - it has some UK English terms); it's like sitting down and talking with a good friend. This book does not define some radical, fad diet plan - it gives good, solid advice for healthy eating - what to eat and why to eat it. It does not contain detailed recipes, however, which would have been a great addition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great ideas for healthy living. April 5 2012

The author has really impressed me with this book. I am somewhat of a novice of the subject of nutrition and have been reading a few books on the subject. Most have bored me to tears, however this book is a neat little package that contains a sharp burst of nutritive wallop.

The author delivers onw what is promised in the title. Many of the foods that I love do leave me feeling hungry soon afterwards, so this book has helped me identify much better foods to eat.

She explores all manner of food group and outlines exactly which foods are healthy, why they are healthy and how they benefit you.

I was very pleased to hear about the benefits of raspberries too as they are my favourite fruit!

Recommended read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A healthy book to feed your mind as well as your tum April 2 2012

This is the first book of Diana's that I have had the fortune to read, on my constant quest to contain my ever-expanding middle-aged spread.

Rather than dole out the same old low carb, Atkins based, unhealthy short-term weight loss recipes, the author has written a well researched, fascinating guide to just how and why your body needs the basic components of nourishments, which ones to avoid and which you can consume healthily, happily in the knowledge you are doing only good to your body. After the easily digested sciencey parts of the book, Diana then goes into great detail explaining the healthy, filling foods and giving simple recipe ideas for each.

For me, the chapter on Broths alone was worth the price of this book - the author's idea of adding this extra simple course to my evening meal has so far been a great success. More fiber, more nutrients and more full up!
