4.0 out of 5 stars A near jewel from an unknown fantasist, Mar 27 2003
By Stephen M. Ferris - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Fabulist (Paperback)
The Fabulist is a well researched, carefully crafted fantasy that develops upon what is known of the legendary fable maker, Aesop. He is brought to life and his fables are cleverly used to lend color and depth to a delightfully characterized novel. Aesop is somewhat remenescent of Lawrence Sander's McNally character, and his wry commentary keeps us turning the pages. The end, though disappointing, is true to the historical data about Aesop, and seems plausible, where a more satisfying ending just might not be realistic.

3.0 out of 5 stars Still looking for the ending, Aug 8 1999
By Jackson Lui - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Fabulist (Paperback)
Great idea, easy read, and an enticing plot. The book started off with a refreshing storyline through the eyes of the fabulist but it couldn't hold my interest past the middle of the book. I expected more of an ending, it almost seems that the author just gave up towards the end with little effort to conclude a promising plot.
