Pour la route ou pour une soirée au coin du feu,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fair & Square (Audio CD)

"New" Prine - Still Mighty Fine,
By Woman with a Big Heart (Peace River, Alberta) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fair & Square (Audio CD)
I've been a Prine fan for years but became truely obsessed with Fair & Square. I spent a month listening to this album over and over and over again. Just couldn't get enough of the guy and his guitar. Then a couple of weeks ago I heard Prine perform at the Edmonton Folkfest. The first couple of numbers were old material and he struggled. I'm thinking...Is he sick? stoned? (I hadn't heard about his cancer battle). Then he played a couple of tunes from his new album and WOW! Still the same old pithy, witty, sly commentary of ordinary, everyday lives. Still the same easy strumming guitar but definitely a new voice. Prine has done an superior job of writing new tunes that fit his new voice perfectly. (BTW, he warmed up, gave us an incredible performance and received a standing ovation from 20,000 or so fans). My favorite tracks from Fair & Square are "Glory of True Love", "Some Humans Ain't Human" and "Long Monday" - what am I saying - favorites? It's all good (although I'm not too crazy about Safety Joe). This is the best Prine yet!

Fabulous album. Just fabulous with lots of layers and melody. Prine has never done a better album.
