Fairy Tales Can Come True

Cindy and the Prince

Thorndike Prince—handsome, levelheaded, successful—is a high-ranking New York City executive. Cindy Territo is the janitor who cleans his office after hours. There's no reason they'd ever meet, no reason he'd even notice her—until, on a whim and a dare, Cindy crashes his company's Christmas ball. She dances with her Prince and then, like a proper Cinderella, flees at midnight, leaving her heart behind….

Some Kind of Wonderful

Beautiful inside and out, New York socialite Judy Lovin values family over fortune and fame. So when her father's business collapses and his most powerful enemy offers to help—in exchange for Judy's company—she agrees to join John McFarland on his remote Caribbean island. It isn't long before she discovers that John's far from the beast he seems to be!

3.0 out of 5 stars Corney, yet Sweet, Jan 2 2010
By M. Sarrao - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Fairy Tale Weddings: Cindy and the Prince\Some Kind of Wonderful (Mass Market Paperback)
The stories are a bit "hokey", but I enjoyed them anyway. This book contains 2 stories: "Cindy and the Prince" (based on Cinderella) and "Some Kind of Wonderful" (based on Beauty and the Beast.) Both were originally published in the 1980's. In "Cindy and the Prince," Cindy works as a maintenance worker (janitor) at Thorndike Prince's company. They meet at a company party that she crashes. She has to be home by midnight and he searches for her after that. You can guess the rest. In "Some Kind of Wonderful," Judy Lovin's family is about to loose everything if John McFarland calls in their bank note. But he offers a reprieve if she comes to stay with him at his island. Judy's family nickname is "Beauty," and their nickname for John is "Beast." Neither of the stories has very well developed characters, but they are sweet to read, and somewhat realistic. John McFarland, for example, learns that he can't keep his love trapped/captive on his island. He needs to let her go and trust her.

2.0 out of 5 stars Based on the narrator, July 12 2011

You know when you take your kids to Disney World and they see Snow White or one of the other princesses, and how they talk to your toddler in that squeaky sugary sweet voice and how that seems to tickle your toddler? This narrator Teri Clark Linden chose to read the heroine of this adult book, to adults in that kind of a voice. It has been a long time since I wanted to shake another person that badly so that they would stop what they were doing.
She also felt the need to make the mother-in-law character sound like an over-dramatic Katharine Hepburn. She made every man in this book sound like some kind of a sick weirdo instead of a hero.
She is going on my `do not buy this narrator' list.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasure to read, Dec 13 2009
By K. Ann Koch - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Fairy Tale Weddings: Cindy and the Prince\Some Kind of Wonderful (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoyed this book very much. These are fun and lighthearted. Perhaps less mature in style than her more recent books they are never-the-less a pleasant flight of fancy and worth owning.
