5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Stuff, April 18 2003

"keystah" (Loveland, CO United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fallen (Audio CD)
Okay, so I'm into ska and punk mostly. But this CD is awesome. I wouldn't compare it to Linkin Park, since "Bring me to life" isn't charactistic of the rest of the album. Amy has some great vocals, and I think that she makes the album. She could sing anything and I would like it. The music has a kind of modern rock/gothic feel to it, but then again the tracks have good variety throughout the album. "My Imortal" and "Hello" showcase excellent piano/strings work and sound like they could be on someone else's CD(like a classical CD)- but the lyrics and tone of the song somehow fit the CD very well. There is even a choir on "My Imaginary". I personally like "Going Under" and "Tourniquet", but all the songs are good. I listened to this CD probably 10 times in the first two days I owned it.

Amy's vocals are rich, powerful, and haunting. I like the band Garbage because of Shirley Manson, and I'd have to say that Amy blows her away. It should also be noted that her "best friend" is her guitarrist Ben does an excellent job on fusing rock with some of the other elements that come together in their music. This stuff is great to crank up. I can't recommend it any more highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deserves the Attention It's Getting, Dec 6 2003

Not surprisingly, metal-heads bash this album for being friendly and pleasing to the ear. For some reason, it's a turn-off that Amy Lee can actually sing unlike most hard rock singers. She not only can sing, but she has one of the best voices in music today. Well, sorry, but I buy music according to what is pleasing to my ear.

"Fallen" is a solid collection of songs that not only rock, but carry strong vocals void of screaming and nonsence. "Bring Me To Life" was the monster single that brought them to the mainstream and it's still a great track no matter how many times its been overplayed. I didn't care for "Going Under" at first but it quickly grew on me. "Everybody's Fool" and "Haunted" are great too. "My Tourniquet" reveals the band's spiritual side and is a definite highlight. "My Last Breath" is awesome and with the exception of BMTL is my favorite rock track. "Fallen" also includes two stunning piano ballads *I'm a sucker for a good piano ballad.* "Hello" is very pleasant, but the star is "My Immortal." "My Immortal" is a stunning piece of work. I've heard a lot of people criticize it for its bland lyrics, but Amy Lee sounds amazing and the melody is breathtaking. I really hope this song takes off at radio...it's sorely needed. Over-all awesome rock album.

I'm not one of those people who over-anazlyze music and complain about certain artists or bands being too "Commercialized" *as many people have said about Evanescence* and to those people...get a life. Worry about something more important...like world hunger.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great album but it Amy Lee needs to know the meaning of team, April 25 2004
This review is from: Fallen (Audio CD)
I love the album, great singing, and great tunes, but the music videos lack something, how about the band itself, Amy Lee is the only person you see for 90% of the videos. I wouldn't compare them to Linkin Park because Linkin Park believes in Team work, i'm not saying the music is bad, because the music is superb. Violins and Piano run most of the album, i think any fan of Linkin Park or Avril Lavigne would like this album, but it would be nice to see more of the band later on in the future but it's a freshman effort so that's a little flaw
