Summary: Lucinda is sent to a reform school because of a terrible incident in which she was involved and her date was killed. Lucinda isn't exactly a regular girl though; ever since she was little she has seen dark shadows that interact with her and scare her. She quickly learned as a child that she was the only one who saw them and has kept them secret but Lucinda wonders whether the shadows may have been responsible for her date's death. Once she arrives at the school she immediately finds herself drawn to the darkly handsome Daniel. While he is attractive it's not that which initially draws her to him, she feels as if they've met before, she has quirky deja vu moments when she's with him. At first Daniel is aloof, downright rude even, but her persistence in following her feelings for him draws them together but Daniel is hiding a secret from her, something immense that will forever change her world.
Comments: I really enjoyed this book. Daniel and Lucinda are both enjoyable characters and their relationship makes a great romance. I'm the type of person who rolls my eyes through all the romance parts of these type of books but the author handles this aspect very well. The romance comes up in short paragraphs here and there and while Lucinda daydreams for a sentence or two, there is thankfully *no* over the top yearning drivel. I appreciate seeing a teen romance written at this level of quality.Read more ›
Normally when i read a book i get so into it that its like watching a movie unfold in my head, with this one i just kept going hoping that it would get better. Needless to say, it didnt.
The story was really irratic and a little confusing, and it was virtually impossible to get connected to the characters.
The romance was really lacking and honestly i could have cared less if Luce got killed near the end. Actually i was hoping she would so this "series" would be put out of its misery, but i wasnt so lucky.
Unfortunately i ordered the two books at once so im stuck with an unread dud that is going to take up space on my kindle...
If your a real love story buff, dont waste your time on this book/series.
I liked how each of the characters has some sort of problem that they had to deal with and how you never really knew which of Luce's friends you should trust and dislike.
Overall, I found the novel okay. For any fallen angel's lover I'm sure this is one novel you would like to add to your collection.

A good book leaves you wanting more, questioning things eagerly. A bad book - like this one - leaves you irritated and hating the questions left unanswered because there are too many and you're not interested enough to keep reading to find out the answers - or worse, without the confidence that they WILL be answered. This book is definitely the latter.
One thing that kept nagging me throughout reading this book is that I can’t shake the feeling that I’ve read this story before. Don’t get me wrong, I’m positive I haven’t read this particular novel before. But I’m sure I’ve read a very similar take on this angel/human epic romance story before. While I was curious where the story was going, I always knew the direction it was headed. I’m sure this story has been told before, or a very similar one. I just can’t think of which book it was! I’ll have to keep thinking on that.
That would probably be my only complaint. While the story definitely had its slower parts, it was good as a whole. The characters were written well and were easy to connect with. I do plan on reading the sequel. I want to find out more!
