Review

"This thriller is dark and romantic, an absolute blinder of a book. Every teenage girl (and her mum) is going to want to read it" The Sun "Imaginative and very sexy" Bella "Readers who prefer paranormal romance will adore Fallen by Lauren Kate" Irish Independent "Bursting with emotion, this is a roller coaster story of unbridled and dangerous desires" Love Reading "This is a gothic love story featuring fallen angels and forbidden love (a winning formula) that will thrill and delight in equal measure" Fantasy Book Review --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

***This review contains one obvious spoiler.*** If you intend to read this book and know absolutely nothing about it don't continue but if you do know a bit about it, my one little spoiler is obvious even from the title of the book.

Summary: Lucinda is sent to a reform school because of a terrible incident in which she was involved and her date was killed. Lucinda isn't exactly a regular girl though; ever since she was little she has seen dark shadows that interact with her and scare her. She quickly learned as a child that she was the only one who saw them and has kept them secret but Lucinda wonders whether the shadows may have been responsible for her date's death. Once she arrives at the school she immediately finds herself drawn to the darkly handsome Daniel. While he is attractive it's not that which initially draws her to him, she feels as if they've met before, she has quirky deja vu moments when she's with him. At first Daniel is aloof, downright rude even, but her persistence in following her feelings for him draws them together but Daniel is hiding a secret from her, something immense that will forever change her world.

Comments: I really enjoyed this book. Daniel and Lucinda are both enjoyable characters and their relationship makes a great romance. I'm the type of person who rolls my eyes through all the romance parts of these type of books but the author handles this aspect very well. The romance comes up in short paragraphs here and there and while Lucinda daydreams for a sentence or two, there is thankfully *no* over the top yearning drivel. I appreciate seeing a teen romance written at this level of quality.

I just finished this book and absolutely LOVED it so much I had to get right on here and write a review to let you all know how amazing it is! I rarely get this excited about a book and how it just totally consumed me from start to finish with no slow parts what so ever. I had high hopes for this book and it lived up to my expectations for sure. This had to be one of the most romantic love stories I have read, right along with twilight. The couple in the story was very compelling, but it was the story of them that had me captivated. This book kept me guessing pretty much until the end with what was going on, and there is going to be a lot more to learn in the next book of the series. It is going to be hard to wait until September for it!

I just dont even know where to start...
Normally when i read a book i get so into it that its like watching a movie unfold in my head, with this one i just kept going hoping that it would get better. Needless to say, it didnt.
The story was really irratic and a little confusing, and it was virtually impossible to get connected to the characters.
The romance was really lacking and honestly i could have cared less if Luce got killed near the end. Actually i was hoping she would so this "series" would be put out of its misery, but i wasnt so lucky.
Unfortunately i ordered the two books at once so im stuck with an unread dud that is going to take up space on my kindle...
If your a real love story buff, dont waste your time on this book/series.

There are only two negative things I have to say about this book. Firstly, the beginning is slow to reach to the action but at the same time, the writing is effortless and absorbing so it's still a page turner. Also, I find that by the end of the book, the author leave much open, a lot of loose ends. You finish the book with the unsatisfied feeling of having many questions unanswered...then again, this is book 1 of four. So that makes sense.
Now on to the great things.
Luce is this girl who has been plagued with the ability to see dark shadows and meanwhile she is irresistibly drawn to Daniel, a guy who makes it obvious from the start that he wants nothing to do with her.
Then there's Cam, another hottie who has a huge thing for Luce and while she is charmed by him, her thoughts return to Daniel, the boy that she is head over heals infatuated with.
Slowly, she get under Daniel's skin enough that he opens up to her. Then the action begins and things get complicated and intense. I don't want to reveal anything. its fun.

I don't quite think I'm supposed to dislike the main character so much, or that I'm supposed to find the plot laughable and the descriptions amusing in their torrid floweriness. There is no true depth, no growth in the main character.

A good book leaves you wanting more, questioning things eagerly. A bad book - like this one - leaves you irritated and hating the questions left unanswered because there are too many and you're not interested enough to keep reading to find out the answers - or worse, without the confidence that they WILL be answered. This book is definitely the latter.

I was so disappointed in this book. I love a good love story and the book proposed this as the ultimate love story....I think not. The author's writing style leaves me confused and shaking my head half the time. She doesn't write fluidly and sometimes doesn't make sense...like she is trying too hard in some spots and not connecting the dots in other parts. I like to read because I love the feeling of getting lost in another world. With this book I never left earth. I never really connected to the story. The story itself has some potential...but even the essence of the story is lacking under this author's hand. I see that a sequel is coming out this fall...I will not buy it. I already lost money on this one. I am now trying to read as many reviews as possible before I buy other books...so I don't waste more money only to be left in disappointment.
