Product Description

Product Description

More than ever before, family time faces stiff competition from other activities that appeal to kids:  video games, text messaging, and checking in on friends through mySpace or Facebook.  Family Fun Night offers the antidote:  Tips and advice for establishing a weekly family time, as well as dozens of specific ideas for spending quality time together.  This comprehensive book suggests ways to interest teens (let each one invite a friend or allow them to play their music in the background on game night), to contend with a large age range (form teams or play games of chance rather than skill), and to manage competitiveness among siblings (play cooperative games or ones where players change teams throughout).  From clever twists on timeless classics to brand new games your family will love, this book offers something for every family, during every month of the year.  Interested in family-friendly card games?  Suggestions for outdoor family games?  Or ideas for last-minute game nights or for game nights that cost less than $10?  It’s all covered in this comprehensive, reader-friendly guide, along with ideas for snacks and meals that complement each family night theme.  Whether family members use the book to brainstorm ideas for their own unique night or follow each game night to the last detail, they will find that family playtime creates wonderful memories that will last forever.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Special..., May 5 2011
By C. Aprill - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Family Fun Night (Paperback)
Honestly, I'm glad I rented this book at my local library before I purchased it. It doesn't really offer anything new. The 1st section is titled "The Basics", which basically talks about getting everyone involved and sportsmanship. This is the first 41 pages of the book and, frankly, the information wasn't of much use to me because I have young children (4 & 6) and the information didn't really apply. The 2nd section is titled "The Activities", which goes over things like board games, movie night, video game night, volunteering, card games, and picnics. The books offers lists of movies, video games, and books; however, the lists are slim and not age specific. Honestly, most of the information listed would be good for kids ages 9-10+. If you have younger kids, I would look elsewhere. Besides that, as I mentioned in the beginning, it's really not new information and you could probably find better ideas after searching online for 15-20 mins.

Book was as it was described. Lots of ideas that are fun and memorable. Easy to follow and understand.Every age group can enjoy the ideas.Graet tiops as well on things such as getting older kids involved, dealing with losing etc.Great projects , this book is real frugal with its ideas as well. I thinkk this book is fit for all families , especially big ones, and is really entertaing. You can use some of the suggestions for parties, family reunions, icebreakers, as well if you ask me. loved the book an you will to .

I bought this book for my niece, ended up ordering one for myself. My children are grown & gone, however I have a 5 year old Grandson and it gave me some great ideas! Even a few game ideas for the Wii. It was cleverly written and I thought I had all the ideas, not so. This book does not disappoint.
