Product Description

Vinyl LP pressing includes download. 2012 album from the veteran Classic Rock duo, their first album of new music since Red Velvet Car in 2012. Fanatic was recorded in hotel rooms and studios up and down the West Coast, with Grammy-winning producer Ben Mink back at the helm with the Wilson sisters drawing from their own lives and personal experiences as inspiration for their music. 'Dear Old America' comes from memories of a military household and is written from the point of view of their father, a Marine Corps officer, returning from war. 'Rock Deep (Vancouver)' harkens back to the city where Dreamboat Annie was written and 'Walkin' Good' (a duet with Vancouver resident Sarah McLachlan) captures the joy of finding new life in a new love.

One is never sure what to expect from "rock acts from the late 70s/80s" but Heart has been a pleasant surprise. There recent comeback effort Blue Velvet showed that they still care to make good music (no lame predictable crap on it) and they let everybody know that they had returned to their roots - giving up on the polished commercial sound and the "big hair" they pursued in the mid 80s to early 90s. So this brings us to Fanatic, which contains some of their hardest rocking tunes in decades (with a few gentler tunes in the mix as is typical for any Heart record). Bottom line they still kick butt and I love it.

After the disappointment of Red Velvet Car I was dubious when I purchased Fanatic. After listening to the CD there was the predictable DARK sound which is found on most Cd's these days (which I actually prefer to the BRIGHT mastering)Why can't we just here the music the way it is supposed to be heard? Anyway that brings me to the Vinyl offering of this album which is in short very good. The dynamic Range is there and it is more like the way music should be heard. The high end is where it should be unlike the CD which the detail muddled and too quiet. I hope more record companies follow this trend. Vinyl records should reflect a full spectrum of sound because that's the way music should be heard and anyone buying vinyl is looking for this. By the way this is the Legacy offering I don't know about the music on vinyl issue. The vinyl is only 150g but this is not an issue it is for the most part quiet and enjoyable to listen to.

I've always been a big fan of Heart. "Fanatic" is a great rock album! Ann and Nancy Wilson are back... big time! Can't wait to see them on tour in 2013!

Well, Heart new cd is kicking with some hard rock Led Zep style
in their guitar riff and some soft acoustic with guest Sarah McLachlan...
best of both world...love "fanatic" & "59 crunch".
some critics said that it's their come back?...but, who said that they ever left?.
