4.0 out of 5 stars Slow Poke Nancy = Great Story Jun 5 2011
By E. Kennen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
My daughter is no red-head, but she is fashionable and precocious, so it is no wonder we love the Fancy Nancy series. This book is no exception.

Fancy Nancy is such a slow runner that she is DREADING Field Day. Then, to literally add insult to injury, Nancy finds out the athletic, but graceless Grace is on her team. How will Nancy face Field Day now?

As with all Fancy Nancy books, this story is peppered with vocabulary terms. But this book teaches kids that nobody is perfect, but that we still need to do the best we can, and to stick up for ourselves. It's also an opportunity to talk how harmful mean-spirited words can be.

We love the Fancy Nancy series! Not only is she full of fun, imagination & joie de vivre, she gives insight into dealing with tough situations. In this book, Jane O'Connor has gently written instructions for children to deal with the mean kids in their lives in a mature and kind manner. Great lesson! Great story!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great books for girls Aug 2 2011

My granddaughters love Fancy Nancy. I started sending them when they were 2 and 4 years old. They have almost every one. Now they are 7 and 9. They still look forward to receiving them. This has been the best find, since I don't see them often enough to know what they would like. The books have stories that teach manners and compassion. I pre order and the books go out as they are printed. Thanks Jane O'connor.
