5.0 out of 5 stars This album is in my top 5 of best CD's ever, Mar 17 2006

You know it's really sad to see 77 reviews of mostly 5 stars. I don't think I know any other album that could pull that off. I was really sad to know this band dis-banded. I bought this album in 1996 after hearing "stuck on you" (which is the 2nd wrose track on the album, which isn't a bad thing) and I remeber paying $23.99 plus tax. It was a rare and unknowen band and yet, this is a great cd. In fact APC did a cover (and ruined the song) of "the nurse who loved me" on their 13th step album. If you want to know more about this album than read the other reviews, just know that this is one of the best CD's ever. Failure was like Nirvana meets Radiohead. Brillant. Buy this album and listen it a couple of times. Also "another space song" is the best one on here. Even if it has the same drum beat over and over again, there is just something magical about it. It wouldn't of worked any other way.

5.0 out of 5 stars IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED..., Jun 18 2004
This review is from: Fantastic Planet (Audio CD)
...This album is basically proclaimed an amazing work of art by at least 90 percent of everyone who has written a review on here. In my own experience, this album has captured the wonder of a variety of tastes, and everyone who likes this album LIKES IT A LOT (In political science, it would mean that this album is HIGHLY SALIENT). Now, I've always said that all of my most favorite albums have grown on me. Now this means that even if I really like one or two songs on an album at first, the best albums always grow on me gradually, song by song, until you love the progression of the whole piece. This is one of those albums, where eventually you love the entire album, and by proxy love each song it contains (including, for this album, all of the segues, as much music as the rest of the album). I should note, there are a few great albums that begin and end with a certain melody, sound effect, tune, etc. that ties the beginning and end of of the album together, so it's basically a loop if it's a good player and it's on repeat.... This is one of those albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hidden treasure, May 27 2004

There aren't any perfect albums, but Failure's final attempt at being a cohesive band is pretty damn close. "Fantastic Planet" almost plays in a continuous loop as one song transitions to the other perfectly. The "Segues" may seem like filler but they are very pivotal in advancing the songs. Failure mixes mid 90's rock and grunge with strange lyrics and creative hooks. What the listener gets is an album full of unique songs such as "Stuck On You" (one listen and you can be hooked), "Dirty Blue Balloons", and "Blank", two very mellow numbers where Ken Andrews laments about drug addiction. "Daylight", the endless ender is truly stratospheric as Ken Andrews rallies the boys for the final Failure song. "Fantastic Planet" is one of the most complete and organized pieces of music ever released. Fans of Tool, Nine Inch Nails, and A Perfect Circle may find something to like here as it is a very eclectic alternative. Very highly recommended.
