Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

Whether the four novellas gathered here strike readers as erotic or pornographic, they certainly push the envelope of the historical romance genre. Set in 1750, Small's "Mastering Lady Lucinda" finds the young, widowed Lady Lucinda Harrington publicly humiliating three suitors. Incensed, they conspire to have her kidnapped and trained to enjoy the pleasures of matrimony. Lucinda, however, is a woman ahead of her time, and has a trick or two up her sleeve. "Risking It All," Johnson's contribution, also features a young widow. She is Felicia Greenwood, who gambles in Monte Carlo to save her villa. Just as she is about to lose her fortune, a handsome stranger offers assistance. Victorian-era principles notwithstanding, Felicia repays her mysterious benefactor by spending some wanton hours with him. Set in 1812, Devine's "The Pleasure Game" finds the virginal Lady Regina Olney conspiring against her protective, scheming father by learning the ways of the world from the proverbial boy next door. Finally, there's Schone's outr "A Man and a Woman." Its protagonist is a 48-year-old vicar's widow named Megan, who trades places with a local prostitute to experience a night of sexual abandon with a man dressed as an Arab, who's probably the first 53-year-old eunuch to be a romantic hero. Readers will find here every euphemism imaginable for men's and women's private parts, as well as explicit biological terms, and should be prepared for raunchy antics throughout. This book's predecessor, Captivated (1999), hit several bestseller lists; Fascinated should do the same. (Oct.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Please stop it with the arab stereotypes!!, May 15 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Fascinated (Paperback)
This was my first erotic anthology. I absolutely loved it. I was actually rather shocked at the coarse language Small used. Apart from that, it was pretty good.
I was quite disappointed by Robin Schone's story though. The plot itself wasn't bad but she is incredibly and, at times, even offensively, stereotypical about the portrayal of the "Arab" like many romance authors. Its almost as if all of these authors took the same course on middle eastern stereotypes for romance novels. Im always disappointed when I see people, and authors especially, display such ignorance about the world they live in.

2.0 out of 5 stars this book seems to be missing something, Mar 21 2004
This review is from: Fascinated (Paperback)
I usually enjoy Bertrice Small and her story was the only one worth reading in this book. The other 3 stories left me wanting more, I kept waiting for something else to happen, but the stories ended with plots that were not very interesting. There were some funny moments,so the book is worth picking up at a yard sale for a dollar otherwise save your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars More erotic than videos and the male can read to you-Wow!, Aug 21 2003
This review is from: Fascinated (Paperback)
I have the entire collection of these books and this definitely puts you in the mood for 'bubble baths and champagne', hot oil massages, and just 'bed time reading' to each other. It's more romantic than porn and more sensual than looking at pictures from books. You get into the character and let your mind and body just go with the nuance the writer sets the stage for. It's not for just casual sex but relationships and it helps rekindle feelings you may have misplaced. You fall inlove all over again! I've loved everything I've ever read by Bertrice Small and when these books starting coming out, I bought to collect. They could be used by 'sex therapist' or for anyone who is having a difficult time in an intimate relationship. There's always the chance the other doesn't want to seek help or feel any is needed. That's when you get out of the relationship as it is dragging you down. This is just my opinion.
