A PSN Classic Comes to the PSP
Sound the trumpets: the highly-anticipated PlayStation Network title Fat Princess is bringing its comical medieval fun to PSP (PlayStation Portable) with a host of added features sure to please both longtime and new fans alike. Frantically paced and strategic, Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake pits two hordes of players against each other in a comic medieval battle royale on PSP. Simply put, the player’s goal is to rescue a beloved princess from the enemy castle, but there's a catch. The opposing team has been feeding her magical cake to make her heavier to carry.

Gameplay
A mix of teen-appropriate comic action and tactical gameplay, team balance and strategy is crucial in Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake. Players embark on multiplayer wireless games of up to eight players, or fewer live players utilizing AI companions, where the goal is to rescue your princess, who has been kidnapped by the opposing team and is constantly fed handfuls of cake, which make her heavier and thus more difficult to physically rescue. The game features multiple play modes in which players can switch between five different character classes by picking up the hats which identify each of class. Hats are spewed out by upgradable machines with each imbuing the player with the differing strengths, abilities and weapons of each class. But no matter how strong the character is, no single player can win alone. The name of the game in Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake is cooperation and strategic planning of group attacks, whether it is flinging another player over the enemy’s walls with a teeterboard, healing him while he charges into battle, or adding muscle to carry the hearty princess to safety.

Key Game Features

  • Six New Levels Plus All of the Originals - Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake adds six new battlefields to the franchise, including environments like Forest, Canyon and Volcano.
  • Extended Single Player Campaign - Play through the extended Story Mode chapters on the go to learn the dramatic tale of the beloved fat princesses.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! April 23 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This game is fantastic!!! Better than any other game i've played! It might sound kind of lame (thats what I thought at 1st), but it really isn't. This game is basically capture the flag, but the flag is the princes and u can feed her cake to make her fat, so the other team can't carry her away! GENIOUS! There are a bunch of different maps and multiple game types, so u really never get bored of it. Plus there are different classes, you can be a soldier, archer, worker, priest, ect and each one does something different. Great game!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very fun game May 7 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I really enjoy Fat Princess: Fistful of cake. I have played a few of the single players levels and a bunch of the online.

Pros:
- Great graphics
- fun gameplay
- Online works very well
- I really like the in-game announcer. He has some funny lines.

Cons:
- no voice chat. This game is so big on teamwork, but you can't coordinate with your teammates.
- Your AI teammates are not too bright. It's hard to get them focused on a goal you need to meet (both single player and bots online)

I really enjoy this game and would have rated it 5/5 stars if not for those two cons.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun port of the PS3 romp March 28 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
The Good: Great sense of humor, campaign is fun and varied, infrastructure mode is superb

The Bad: AI is kind of dumb, may be too light for most RTS fans, light on extras and modes

Real time strategy games are one thing, but when you add the words fat, princess, and cake to the title it becomes something magical. Fat Princess is an RTS that really makes you adrenaline pump. You have different classes such as warriors, wizards, priests, workers etc. but call this game an RTS lite because the game is all about action.

The main story consists of 15 levels and each one is different and super fun with a very interesting fairly tale story that is being told. You slowly unlock different units to use, but how you use them is key. Each unit can be upgraded to use different weapons such as the warrior can be upgraded to use a halberd, the archer can use a gun, and the worker can use bombs to blow up structures. Your main goal is usually getting the enemies princess into your dungeon, so think of this as capture the flag. You can feed your princess cake to fatten her up so it is harder for the enemy to take her away. The enemy will also try to build ladders near your castle or find shortcuts so watch out.

Workers have two different resources for upgraded "Hat Machines" or completing different objectives that require them. You can gather wood and metal by hacking away at it and carrying it to your base. Most resources will grow back after a few minutes, but its a fight for the best areas. You can capture command posts as well to keep a firm hold on the map.

But like I said the game is about action so unit building and all the resource gathering is faster. Each unit is AI controlled and you can call some guys to fight by your side and help you escort the princess. You can call an archer, warrior, and a priest who will have hearts under them and you can move faster. If the enemies princess is to fat, however, you can't carry her at all.

The fun part about Fat Princess is how the tide of the battle does a tug of war and can be really intense. Choosing what to do is up to you. Do you want to help heal everyone as priest? Help upgrade the hat machines? Do you want to charge right into the castle yourself and get the princess? While the AI controlled guys may have some issues going online via infrastructure is the icing on this cake. Playing against real people can be a blast since they pretty much know what to do.

Besides all this you can customize the unit of your people and do skirmishes, but other than that the game is light on modes and extras. Fat Princess is chalk full of internet quotes, and game related nuances so there are laughs all around. Fat Princess is a wonderful light RTS for pick up and play action. Plus the game looks and sounds great on the PSP and doesn't lose anything from the PS3 port.

I gave this game a 5 stars because it's very challenging. I got this game for my 8 year old daughter for Christmas. She loves playing it and learning the different things that she can do with the characters. I thought it would be too challenging for her age, but come to find out she got it on her own.
