Product Description

From Amazon.co.uk

The arrival of Fatherfucker should have raised an interesting problem for Peaches. How do you follow a debut album (Teaches of Peaches) that woke up the world with its aggressively sexual, irresistibly rebellious and zeitgeist-capturing stance? The only way really is to do it all over again, bigger, badder and better--which is exactly what Canadian-born, Berlin-dwelling, shock-factor nine artist Peaches has tried to do. Remarkably, she's pretty much succeeded. By continuing along her own path she shows the world she is not just a novelty act; and with an album that's as energetic, uncompromising and as galvanising as its predecessor, anyone thinking she was going to clean up her act to appease detractors needs to think again. The title, the cover art (Peaches with a beard) and opening track "I don't give a…" (which samples Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation") make it screamingly, punkishly clear that she doesn't give a #@*&. The album unfolds in punchy bursts of home-cooked computer beats (from hip-hop to electro to dancehall), raw power chords and sneering attitude, with dudes like Iggy Pop and Taylor Savvy on board to help out. It's the candour and energy that Peaches invests in her music that moves it clear away from cliché. As the title and the beard suggest, Peaches definitely has balls. --Paul Sullivan

4.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTE BOOGY, May 3 2005
By
This review is from: Fatherfucker (Audio CD)
This album is really cool and is strikingly fun. You don't just want to dance, you want to boogy! Burn the house down in fact. This treasure if full to the hip with groove and her duet with Iggy Pop is pretty raw, kind of like her image. The tracks, which I consider to be the strongest are: Operate and Kick It. Peaches is truly eclectic and I enjoy Electro clash a lot. Peaches and Dada Pogrom, another favourite artist of mine should join forces and produce even more killer tracks. Bet they'd be delightfully haunting. In any case, this is a nice edition to her other album which I have called The Teaches of Peaches.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peaches Rocks!, July 9 2004

This review is from: Fatherfucker (Audio CD)
I love this album and tell everybody I come across to check it out. It's full of energy and humor and there's nothing better than blasting it in your car, preferrably if you have a parent with you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Electroclash, Jun 18 2004
By
This review is from: Fatherfucker (Audio CD)
Is this the last great Electroclash record? Maybe Ladytron and Fischerspooner have something to say about that. I saw Peaches play in late 2001 and she ruled. She has been doing the same act for three years no, or more. It's like punk rock karaoke. It's fine. It's great. Young girls idolize Peaches. It's a fun album. Maybe it's not The Beatles, but that is okay.
