I choose this particular book because my daughter has a fatty liver and started this program right away, what results she had.
Not only did she loose weight but she has never felt soooo good in her entire life. She has so much energy and great color, her hair and skin are truly glowing.
For myself I have a history of poor liver function, born with a weak one, and this program and direction has helped me so much. I haven't lost a lot of weight, but I did not need to. I will tell you I feel so much better. As time goes on I know I will feel as good as my daughter does now.
I would recommened this book to anyone who is feeling sluggish, overweight, or is very concerned about their overall health.
It is well written and easy to understand.

Lifechanging Sept. 12 2010
By Mr. Cobb - Published on Amazon.com

All doctors who diagnose patients with fatty liver disease should be required to give them this book at the same time. I had never heard of this disease and was totally in the dark about it...I left the doctor's office with many questions and few answers. This book was a lifesaver. It explains the seriousness of the disease, but also recommends lifestyle changes, offers recipes and solutions to turn it around. Well worth every penny.

A Gift of great Importance. Nov. 6 2010

To all who need this help and to all who need this help and don't even know it. I have been through the ringer in my life and have needed specified help for specified medical problems. The book "Fatty Liver: You Can Reverse It" is an amazing book that can save innumerable lives. Dr. Sandra Cabot has, in my opinion written a book that everyone forty or older should have and should read, and then some. I could see millions of North Americans and tens of millions, if not, hundreds of millions worldwide who could benefit immensely from this medical advice that involves diet. Millions of lives could be saved and millions more could lead better lives. Why isn't this common knowledge! Why didn't my doctor tell me of this or why hasn't my doctor told me of this so many many years ago. After reading this book and the brutally logical and very easy to understand physiological and biological accountings of how so many of us, are in our lives, with poor or potentially fatal organ functions, primarily the liver, and how we so damaged ourselves, I finally felt I knew my physiology. Dr. Sandra Cabot's book explains this brilliantly as she then goes on to educate us with the most basic and nutritious and common sense diet recovery, in my opinion, ever written in history. To put it succinctly, my liver got better, I lost weight, I lost my insatiable appetite, I gained a vast amount of new physical energy and I felt much better psychologically. I became healthier and had more normal readings on my blood tests, finally! After all these years! There are books and there are books. This book can save and extend your life, not a word of an un-truth, I kid you not, and every other cliche. Everyone should know this information, everyone! Thanks, Dr. Sandra Cabot.

Seemed to be the only resource out there for fatty liver disease... Dec 7 2011
By Carlton Davenport - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I bought this book after my doctor told me that I have some fat on my liver following an ultrasound and an MRI scan. I have been having mysterious symptoms for about 2 years now that they haven't been able to explain, including bilary colic, inflamation of the liver, malabsorption of vitamins, low t, acne rosacea, etc. While my Doctor has told me these symptoms are not related to each other -- Dr. Calbot's book seems to draw a very clear picture of how all of these things work together -- and it looks like she is saying that they are all caused by the same thing, fatty liver.

I was thankful to finally find a decent resource on Fatty Liver, with some clear steps on what to do to reverse it. I had already suspected that a diet of low/no sugar, and low fat would help me lose weight and reverse the effects. Seems like now that I have lost about 10% of my body weight, the pain is receding, and I'm feeling better. I'm hopeful that I'll continue to improve, and I'll be able to stay on this diet for life.

I just wish that Dr. Calbot's book would have been presented in a more scholarly manner, because it seems to be heavily weighted with anecdotes and stories from her patients -- but not much scientific data. I'd definitely like to see more from her on this subject, including some of her clinical trials/tests, etc... I'd like to know more on how specifically a fatty liver can be caused to pump out toxic bile and sludge that a normal liver doesn't create.

When I presented the book to my GI Doctor, he made it sound like Calbot is kind of a quack and not mainstream at all. His only advice was to "not drink alcohol", and "lose weight gradually" -- but refused to give specific recommendations on herbal supplements or specific remedies that could speed up recovery. I was thankful to find a few good recommendations on these topics in Calbot's book!

Fatty Liver - You can reverse it

By Sandra Cabot

Book review

By Richard Edward Noble

This book provides basic information on a condition called "Fatty Liver." The overall format of the book is somewhat like a medical info commercial and a religious revival meeting.

The first part of the book is basically a diet and food recommendations. The last part is a very long testimonial from a satisfied customer. It is a very interesting testimonial but I'm hesitant in accepting its value in a serious medical journal. It is certainly a good memoir or basis for a novel.

Overall I see this book as an advertisement as opposed to a doctor's report on a serious medical problem. But nevertheless this is no reason to assume that any of the advice or information contained in the book is not valuable or true.

It seems that many people who have the Fatty Liver problem also have a weight control problem or an eating disorder. If the Fatty Liver is discovered early enough and a proper eating and exercise regimen put into place this condition can be reversed according to the author.

Unfortunately this Fatty Liver can advance to cirrhosis. Once in the cirrhosis stage of liver disease, regeneration of the liver is no longer possible. Stabilization and care to lessen the progression of the cirrhosis is all that remains for those in the advanced conditions of liver disease. My guess is that in the early stages of cirrhosis the recommendations for diet and exercise would also be favorable.

Overall, the book is informative and offers lots of information - people to call, websites to go to, food to eat, diets, and products and services for sale by the author.

Don't waste the money on this book - Buy some Milk thistle - Go on a diet April 16 2012

OK informative?
Recipes what recipes?
I learned that, Doctors aren't taught nutrition in school. (There's a surprise)
Oh do you really wonder WHY, perhaps because nutrition it's not a pharmaceutical that can be patented and sold and therefore is not benefitting the companies who fund the med schools.
I learned thermo-genic foods are good for weight loss just wish the book had more examples than on p.86.
Book is slightly informative relating to liver function and how a fatty liver affects an otherwise healthy body causing issues "ten pages or so worth of info".
If you don't need a pep talk or motivation you can ovoid the second half of the book.
Second half of book is filler "about a doctor who eats too much and eventually detoxes his liver and loses weight"
Ok write yourself a prescription for common sense: avoid HFCS and Hydrogenated fats, alcohol white flour, rice, starches, and other non-healthy things, lose weight and you will feel good.
I gave this book a rating of 2 because although the first section of the book had some interesting facts and advice it had few recipes and the second half of the book was a Newt Rockne pep talk and a waste of my time...
Book needs a new updated version: One with more facts and recipes to receive a 3, 4 or possible even a 5 rating.

Book shows good intention but save your money wait for an updated version with more facts recipes and no pep talk.
